The 4 days and 3 nights tour to Rainbow Mountain, Machu Picchu, and Ausangate - is one of the most picturesque tours in Peru. Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco-Pukutuni School-Pucaccocha

A team member will pick you up at 4am for a three-hour drive to Putukuni School. Have your breakfast and meet the other crew members (porters, chefs, and horsemen). Then hike for 3 hours to the Upis village under the Ausangate Mountain. After lunch, climb up for 1.5 hours to Vicuna Pass (4850m), then 3 hours to your campsite - Pucaccocha. Enjoy the stunning views of the glacier peaks, the valley, and the waterfalls.

Day 2: Pucaccocha-Condor Pass-Alpaca Pass-Soroni Lake

After an early breakfast, hike for 2 hours to Condor Pass (4900m). Get the stunning views of the Ausangate Mountain, the lagoons, and witness some alpacas and llamas. Start with a gradual downhill for 2 hours to the lunch spot. Then start with a small climb to Alpaca Pass (4950m) where you can get a small glimpse of Rainbow Mountain. Hike downhill to get to your campsite which offers amazing views of Andean Sky.

Day 3: Soroni Lake-Rainbow mountain-Kayrawiri-drive to Ollantaytambo-train to AguasCalientes

Spend the night at the Rainbow Mountain and let all that beauty rest in your eyes. Become one of the first few hikers to reach this mountain. Enjoy your breakfast and hot drinks in the morning before you start your 2hour uphill hike. On your way, you will come across vicunas and the guide will share the knowledge and the significance of minerals and colors which reside in the mountain. After a 1hour trek to the trail, you will be bidding your goodbye’s to the trekking team and only continue with your guide. Take the 4-hour drive to Ollantaytambo, followed by a dinner, and then you catch a train to Aguas Calientes at 7 pm. Then check-in to the hotel, take a comfortable shower and rest.

Day 4: Machu Picchu and Return to Cusco

On the last day of your expedition, take early breakfast and catch the first bus to Machu Picchu at 5:30 am. It will take 30 minutes to Machu Picchu. You can hike to Huayna Picchu (75USD per person and must be booked in advance). While returning to Machu Picchu, you are recommended to head back to Aguas Calientes 2hours before the time of train departure. The train from Aguas Calientes will take 2 hours to Ollantaytambo. A staff member will be waiting for your arrival, and you will be taken back to Cusco via cab. It is a 2hours distance and you will be dropped off at your concerned hotel.

Note: Instead of Huayna Picchu Mountain, Machu Picchu Mountain can be hiked but the hike will be more challenging and take a minimum of 3 hours, then the round trip (extra 75USD per person).

  • The domestic flight airport, Cusco so the travelers must disembark and go through customs in Lima. You must grab your luggage at Lima even if your flight to Cusco is by the same airline carrier on the same day.
