Trip Overview

Witness the Peruvian culture and the magnificent Andes Mountains with Lares and 2 Days Inca Trail Trek. This trek combines the Lares Trek and the Inca trail to provide you a total package of beautiful views, camping under the night sky, and a sight-full trek. The trail starts with refreshing showers at the Lares Hot Springs that are composed of pure volcanic water. You will find exotic llamas and alpacas at every turn and will accompany you through your trek. Get a chance to explore the local homes and villages at Kiswarani waterfall campsite. The trek will take you above the clouds at Condor Pass with mesmerizing 360 degrees view of the valley. The major attraction of this trek is Machu Picchu, with extraordinary views and experience. Visit the Sun gate, Sacred Valley, and you can even trek to the Huayna Pichu Mountain. Embark on magnificent rain ride with views of the Urubamba River and cornfield farms.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Thermal Baths to Kiswarani Waterfall Campsite
    The trek staff will pick you from your hotel in Cusco at 5 AM to begin the trek. We will start the journey with a 3-hour drive to through the Andes and arrive at the Lares Hot springs for breakfast. Enjoy in the hot springs, accompanied by amazing views of the Andes. Drive for 20 minute more to reach the Punta Carretera.
    Begin the 2-hour hike on an uphill trail and reach Kiswarani village for lunch. View potato farms in the area along with medicinal plants. Enjoy a beautiful ceremony with the llamas, a sacred animal in the Incas, performed by the horsemen. Explore the local homes and villages, discovering their lifestyle and culture.
    Trek uphill for 2 more hours and reach the Waterfall campsite by evening. Enjoy hot drinks and dinner under the beautiful night sky. Set up the tents and spend the night at the campsite
  • Day 2: Kiswarani to Condor Pass to Cancha Village
    Get up early at 5 AM and enjoy breakfast accompanied by hot drinks. Fill your water bottles and pack the tents to being the trek. Today we will trek to Pachacute/Condor pass, which would take 3-4 hours to climb. Follow a zig-zag route to reach the pass and witness lakes, waterfalls, and llamas from the top. Enjoy 360 degrees views and majestic peak of Pitusiray mountain. The staff will serve some hot drinks, followed by a descent.
    Descend towards El Mirador for lunch. Continue downhill trek for 3 more hours to reach the campsite at Cancha village. This village does not have any modern technology or cars. You will be given time to get acquainted with the people and provide food and school supplies to the natives of this village. Learn about their lifestyle and witness traditional and hand-woven textiles. Enjoy cups of hot drinks along with dinner at the campsite.
  • Day 3 : Cancha to Huaran to Maras Salt Mine to Ollantaytambo
    Wake up; enjoy hot drinks followed by breakfast. Explore the beautiful village and the area’s only elementary school. Begin a downhill trek for 4 hours and witness a lovely path filled with llamas, alpacas, fava beans and potato cultivation, and traditional tubers. You will experience micro climate change, as you reach the Sacred Valley. This region has beautiful plantation farms of corn, quinoa, kiwi, peaches, avocados, etc. Reach a village called Huaran and upon reaching horses, horsemen, chef, and porters will return home.
    Board a van to visit the Salineras salt pans which is located in Maras. Witness the saltwater spring, gushing out on the mountains and you can even buy some salt from the market. Head towards the hotel in Ollantaytambo for an overnight stay.
  • Day 4:Hike Inca Trail to Machu Picchu
    The staff will pick you up from the hotel at 5:30 AM and take you to the train station. From here you will board a train to KM 104. After 1 hour and 45 minutes of the train, we will disembark at KM 104 and enjoy breakfast with trekking staff. Be sure to carry your passport as you would need it at the entrance of the Inca Trail. Explore the Chachabama, the first Inca Trail site, followed by a 3-hour climb to WinayWayna. Capture amazing views of Machu Picchu Valley as well as the Urubamba River while walking along the trail. Upon arrival, you will get time to explore temples, waterfalls, gardens, storehouses, farming terraces, etc. Enjoy lunch at WinayWayna, followed by short rest time. Begin a 1-hour uphill trek to Sungate where you will have spectacular views of Huayna Picchu, Machu Picchu, and the nearby valleys. After this, there is 1 hour of trek remaining towards Machu Picchu. Explore the watchtower in Machu Picchu ruins followed by a 20-minute bus ride to the campsite of Puente Ruinas. Arrive at the campsite and enjoy a dinner ceremony with the trekking staff.
  • Day 5: Visit Machu Picchu and Return to Cusco
    Wake up early in the morning and savor your breakfast. Walk to the train station for 30 minutes and get the first bus going to Machu Picchu. You will be given a 2 hour guided tour of the ruins of Machu Picchu. After this, you may trek to Huayna Picchu or explore the nearby areas. Catch the bus to Aguas Calientes, where you will have lunch. Board the train to Ollantaytambo, from where a private van will take you to Cusco.

Good to Know

Porters and horses would be available for carrying the heavy luggage. Each porter will be allotted maximum 20kg. Please note, each member is allowed to carry 7 kgs of luggage in the Duffel, which would be provided. In case the weight exceeds 7 kgs, you will have to carry the extra baggage on your own.

Sleeping bags, inflatable air mattress, and walking sticks are available on rent.
