Trip Overview

Do you know Annapurna 1 is the 10th highest mountain in the world? You should consider yourself lucky if you make up to Annapurna Base Camp Trek as it is one of the most famous treks in the world. The journey of your trek will begin in Pokhara that offers breathtaking views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and Machhapuchhre.

Your journey will be full of waterfalls, villages with their innocence intact, terraced farmlands, forests, and majestic mountain views before you reach the base of Annapurna.

If you are looking for the best seasons to consider trekking here then Autumn which is from September to November and Spring which is from March to May are the best seasons for this trek. The weather is sunny and bearable with larger than life views. 

Itinerary

DAY 1: Touchdown in Kathmandu 

As you will reach Kathmandu the Himalayas will welcome you with a big hug and you will be in awe with the view. You will be served Nepalese cuisine in the evening introducing you to the food culture of Nepal. Your overnight stay will be in Kathmandu. 

Day 2: Sightseeing in Kathmandu

Your day 2 will witness sightseeing in Kathmandu which will begin with a visit to the Pashupatinath temple in the morning. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva situated on the banks of Bagmati River. 

Then a tour to Boudhanath will be taken, which is one of the holiest Buddhist stupas, and Patan Darbar square that consists of heritage buildings representing the four kingdoms i.e. Kantipur, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and Kirtipur in Nepal. 

Day 3: Flight to Pokhara followed by trek to Ulleri

You will take a flight to Pokhara which will be of 30 minutes. A 1 hour and 20 minute drive will be taken to reach Nayapul (new bridge) followed by a walk through a valley forest, crossing the Bhurundi Khola (river) before reaching Tikhedhunga Village. Your trek of 6 hours will start from there up to the Ulleri Hill. You will reach Ulleri by late afternoon. Your overnight will be in Ulleri.

Day 4: Ulleri to Ghorepani 

You will climb to the Ghorepani village via stone stairs. You will experience the magnificent views of Annapurna South, immerse your eyes in the serene waterfalls and small villages and reach Ghorepani. Your overnight stay will be in Ghorepani. The trek will take around 4-5 hours. 

Day 5: Ghorepani to Tadapani with a visit to Poon Hill 

By rising up early you will walk up to Poon Hill to experience the beautiful sunrise over the Himalayas. From there you will also get views of other mountains. Then you will trek back to Ghorepani. Then you will start walking towards the east and climb a ridge and reach Tadapani. Your overnight will be in Tadapani. The visit and trek will take around 6-7 hours. 

Day 6: Tadapani to Chhomrong 

You will come down through a large forest of rhododendron and walk up the hill for around 5 km. You will reach Chhomrong after a few more miles of trekking which is an attractive village. 

Day 7: Chhomrong to Bamboo 

You will descend and cross the bridge above Chhomrong Khola. You will start the uphill trekking from here to Sinuwa. Then, you will pass through a forest to Kuldihar and downhill walk to Bamboo. 

Day 8: Bamboo to Deurali 

You will trek through a cold bamboo forest and then climb up. Then you will climb up through a drier forest before you reach Hinku Cave before you climb again to Deurali. You will take rest in Deurali.

Day 9: Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp from Machhapuchhre Base Camp 

You will climb through a river bed over to the mountain side, followed by an arduous hike from Bagar to Machhapuchhre Base Camp. Then you will reach the Annapurna sanctuary. You will take rest at the Annapurna Base Camp.

Day 10: Trek to Bamboo

You will begin downhill trekking to Bamboo from Annapurna base camp. Your overnight stay will be in Bamboo.

Day 11: Bamboo to Jhinu Danda 

It is an uphill trek from Bamboo to Kuldighar and then a downhill walk to Chhomrong Khola. Then you climb up to Chhomrong. You will be resting in Jhinu Danda for the night. 

Day 12: Trek to Nayapul 

You will begin your trek from Jhinu Danda to Nayapul. You will be driven from Nayapul to Pokhara. Your overnight stay will be in Pokhara.

Day 13: Fly to Kathmandu

You will fly back to Kathmandu in the afternoon. You can spend the day exploring the place, or shop for gifts and souvenirs and artwork. The evening will come to an end with a farewell dinner. 

Day 14: Final Departure 

You will be dropped at the airport by our representative after breakfast. You will bid final goodbye to your group.

Good to Know

  • Physical fitness
    This trek does not require you to be an athlete but you should be fit on an average level. You can start preparing for this trek by walking for 8-10 kilometers a day, jogging, swimming and yoga. It is of utmost importance to keep yourself fit for any trek so that you do not fall sick easily and your can bear the stress. 
  • Food 
    You will get an opportunity to eat authentic Nepalese food in the alluring environment which you may not eat otherwise. It is advised that you eat the local food and not the food you generally eat so that you can have the chance to know about Nepalese food.
