Trip Overview

Tucked away in seclusion, Mustang in Nepal is a hidden world preserved with the ways of the ancient Tibetan Buddhist kingdom. Massive eight-thousand meter and taller mountains border the region, with the Tibetan plateau at one side. The place carries a history of military unrest in the late 80s due to which tourism in the area did not boom like in other parts of Nepal. The trans-Himalayan desert mountainscape of Mustang is simply breathtaking, stark in earth colors- ochre, red, and yellow. Sparse vegetation in these slopes gives the place a spectacularly rugged feel. In contrast to the precipitous landscape of this far corner of the earth, the people exhibit a beautiful simplicity and gentleness in their day to day lives and hospitality.

Our 17-day trek will take you through the secret alleyways of the walled town of Lo-Manthang, expose you to the visual extraordinariness of the ancient place, the beautiful relics of Mustang’s olden royalty, temples, and gompas, and give you the exhilarating high-altitude challenge of your lifetime!
