Trip Overview

Experience the thrill of the Everest base camp along with a trek to Cho La pass and the Gokyo Valley. This trek is a unique blend of nature’s supreme landscapes in the Himalayan region. Traverse on the Khumbu Valley and Gokyo Valley link trail for a mind-blowing experience. Sitting elegantly at a height of 5,420 meters, Cho La pass offers an extraordinary panorama of the mountain ranges and the shimmering blue lakes, despite its tough climb. The trail passes through crystalline Ngozumpa, Khumbu, and the Changri glaciers along with the six sacred lakes. The trek also gives you a chance to get acquainted with the Sherpa people and the lifestyle of other hill tribes. Most of the trails are covered in snow with marvelous views of the Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Cho Oyu, and Mt. Makalu. Kala Patthar, Namche bazar, and Tengboche are other highlights of this spectacular trek.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu and Check-in at hotel
    Reach Kathmandu International Airport and our representative will meet you there and transfer you to the Hotel. The rest of the day is free and you can explore the vibrant city. The tour manager will meet you at the Hotel and brief all the participants about the trip, followed by a welcome dinner.
  • Day 2: Fly to Lukla and Trek to Phakding
    Get up early in the morning and board a flight to Lukla. Begin trekking from the start point in Lukla and descend through farmlands of Sherpa people and several villages. Pass some shrines and monasteries and reach Phakding after 3 hours of trek. Enjoy views of Kumbila and Kusum Kanguru peaks.
  • Day 3: Trek to Namche
    Trek through the hamlet of Zamphute and Tok tok, Sherpa villages, Dudhkoshi River and reach the Sagarmatha National Park. For the second half of the trek, follow a steep trail crossing the Jorsale village and a high bridge over the Dudhkoshi gorge. Trek uphill to gain altitude and reach the Namche Bazar with the Mt. Everest in view.
  • Day 4 : Trek to Khumjung and return to Namche
    Climb the hillside above Namche, beside the Gompa and reach an intersection with a sign. Take the left cut and walk past a Mani Wall and a Chorten. Trek through an amazing viewpoint from where you can witness the Mt. Everest, Lhotse, etc. The trail eventually goes down past the Hillary school and leads you to Khumjung village. It has a famous Gompa that is located in a grove of cedar. Retrace the path and return to Namche.
  • Day 5: Trek to Dole
    Today’s trek will take 5 hours and pass through a Chorten that lies upon a ridge. Continue the trek to Mongla, followed by Phortse Tenga and finally reach Dole.
  • Day 6: Trek to Machhermo
    There is a steep climb for 1-2 hours through a forest and a barren hillside. Pass through several settlements and yak pastures to reach Lhabarma village. Trek past a large chorten and prayer flags to reach a flat bottom valley where you will find the Ngozumpa glacier to reach Machhermo.
  • Day 7: Trek to Gokyo
    Today we will trek through the Pangka village and a bridge to reach one of the six sacred lakes. Trek along a barren landscape and the second lake to reach the Gokyo village on the bank of the third lake, Dudh Pokhari.
  • Day 8: Trek to Gokyo Ri
    We begin the trek early in the morning and climb Gokyo Ri by crossing a stream. Climb up for 2 hours while enjoying views of the Everest, Cho Oyu, and Makalu. Explore the area and capture the beautiful sight of the landscape from the top. Head back to Gokyo village for a night stay.
  • Day 9: Tek to Thangnak
    Descend and cross the third lake. The trail will bring you back to Ngozumpa glacier with large ponds of melted water. Trek further to reach a settlement of Thangnak. Witness astonishing views of the Phari Lapche and the icy wall of Cho Oyu.
  • Day 10: Trek to Lobuche via Cho La pass
    Trek southwards and go around the ridge to the Chola Lake. Trek along the lake to reach Ama Dablam. Follow the contour of the hill, descending down into the valley to reach Lobuche. We are now on the main trail to the Everest Base Camp.
  • Day 11: Trek to Gorak Shep
    For the first half, we trek below the moraine of Khumbu glacier and ascend. Now we descend from the Changri Nup and Changri Shar glacier. The trail goes through sections of the glacier and rocky mountain till we finally reach Gorak Shep. Witness icy scenery all around and stay the night at Gorak Shep.
  • Day 12: Trek to Everest Base Camp
    We begin the early trek and walk across the Gorak Shep Lake, several glaciers, and pools of melted water, boulders, and icy walls to reach the Everest Base Camp. Retrace the previous path and head back to Gorak Shep for a night stay.
  • Day 13: Trek to Kala Patthar and return to Pheriche
    Enjoy early breakfast and trek across the windy sand bed following a zig-zag trail with great views of Changtse, Lingtren, and Khubutse. Climb further to reach the vantage viewpoint, Kala Patthar. The climb is quite tough yet rewarding with an unparalleled view of the Mt. Everest. After spending time at the viewpoint we descend passing Gorak Shep, Lobuche, etc and trek towards Pheriche for overnight stay.
  • Day 14: Trek to Tengboche
    Cross the bridge over Khumbu Khola and follow the descending trail to Tsuro Wag. Retrace the old path through Shomare and Upper Pangboche to reach Tengboche. Tengboche Monastery is the largest in the Khumbu region.
  • Day 15: Trek to Namche Bazaar
    Follow the trail going to Phunki tenga and descend towards Sanasa and Kyangjuma. Eventually you’ll Namche Bazar and spend the night there.
  • Day 16: Trek to Lukla
    Trek along the Dudh Kosi River and reach Lukla, where you will stay the night.
  • Day 17: Flight to Kathmandu
    Board the flight to Kathmandu and the trek staff will transfer you to the hotel. You may buy gifts or explore the city followed by a farewell dinner at the hotel.
  • Day 18: Departure
    Our trek staff will drop all the guests to Kathmandu International Airport.

Itinerary
