Trip Overview

The Tilicho Lake is the major highlight of this trek and the world’s highest lake, which collects the glacial waters for Annapurna and Thorong Peak. This is an adventurous trek in the Annapurna region with superb high altitude views. Khangsar Kang and Nilgiri North also add to the beauty of this trek. The trek commences from the Marshyangdi River and leads to traditional villages, inhabited by different Nepalese and Tibetan tribes. The majestic views of the Himalayas will stay with us at all times and their beauty will increase with gains in the altitude. The trek route will take you through the enticing Tilicho Lake, followed by the Thorung La Pass. The trek also gives the trekkers, an opportunity to visit the sacred Muktinath temple. Witness the terraced rice fields, rhododendron forests, pine trees, and hot springs along the trek trail.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu and Check-in at hotel
    Reach Kathmandu International Airport and our representative will meet you there and transfer you to the Hotel. The rest of the day is free and you can explore the vibrant city. The tour manager will meet you at the Hotel and brief all the participants about the trip, followed by a welcome dinner.
  • Day 2: Drive to Besisahar
    We will get up early and drive to the Besisahar, from where we will commence the trek. The trail passes through many lowland villages, allowing the trekkers to witness the lifestyle of Nepalese people.
  • Day 3: Trek to Bahundanda
    Begin trekking on a dirt road and follow a rough stone staircase that will lead you to Puwa Khola and eventually connect to the road to Khudi village. Cross a suspension bridge and continue towards Bhulbule. Continue to Marsyangdi Khola, travelling past a waterfall amidst tropical trees and pines. Trek through terraced rice fields to reach Ngadi and cross Sisneri Khola to reach a Tibetan camp area. Take a detour to hot springs and ascend towards the bamboo grooves in Bahundanda.
  • Day 4 : Trek to Chamje
    Enjoy breakfast and begin the trek by descending through terraced rice fields along a vertical cliff, villages, and lush green forests. Trek further and cross a suspension bridge over the Marshyangdi River to reach Jagat. Follow a rocky trail that will lead you to Chamje.
  • Day 5: Trek to Bagarchhap
    Start the trek by crossing a suspension bridge on the Marshyangdi River and continue on a rocky trail to Sattale. Trek past the bamboo and rhododendron fields to Tal Besi and cross over a ridge to enter the Manang district. As you enter the gate you will witness a large waterfall and at the foot of it is a place called Tal. Move north from Tal, cross a suspension bridge and reach Dharapani. From here the trail gradually climbs over a forest of oak, maple, blue pine, spruce, and hemlock to reach Bagarchhap. Bagarchhap is a village with a Tibetan styled architecture, where you will spend the night.
  • Day 6: Trek to Chame
    We will now enter the Manang Valley and climb through the pine forest once again to reach Danaque. Cross small sections of rhododendron forests to reach a Timang settlement and then finally climb through the rest of the forest to reach Thanchowk and Koto Village. After crossing these villages you will land at a large village called Chame for an overnight stay.
  • Day 7: Trek to Upper Pisang
    Trek through a pine forest on a steep trail to reach a curved rock face. Eventually, the trail leads to an open area, surrounded by Himalayan Mountains. Climb for an extra half an hour to reach a big hill called Upper Pisang.
  • Day 8: Trek to Manang
    Today we trek on a dry and arid path as we leave Pisang. From here we can either take the northern route or southern route to Mungji. The northern route follows the Marsyangdi River via Ghyaru to reach Mungji, whereas the southern route goes via an airstrip in Hongde and is less strenuous. The trail from Mungji will take you through beautiful locations along with the hidden village of Bryanga. Trek furthermore to reach Manang where you will spend the night.
  • Day 9: Acclimatization at Manang Village
    Rest at Manang Village and explore the nearby area while appreciating its beauty.
  • Day 10: Trek to Khangsar Village
    Leave Manang village from the western gate and trek along the river. Cross Khangsar Khola via a bridge and ascend on a slope towards a Tibetan village. This is the last village of Nepal, Khangsar.
  • Day 11: Trek to Tilicho Base Camp
    Trek on a large path, passing a monastery and reach a recently constructed ridge. Continue trek towards the high crest and then descend on the slopes to a side valley. Move to the other side of the building to reach the Tilicho base camp.
  • Day 12: Trek to Tilicho lake
    Get up early in the morning and commence the 3-4 hour trek towards a cold and barren area of Tilicho Lake. Tilicho Lake is the highest lake in the world and this area has no accommodation facilities. Explore the surrounding area and head back to the Base camp by evening.
  • Day 13: Trek to Yak Kharka
    Follow the trail above Khangsar village and pass through the ruins of old Khangsar. Continue on an unmarked trail that will lead us to bridge made of logs. Cross the bridge to reach the other side of a river and reach Yak Kharka for overnight stay.
  • Day 14: Trek to ThorungPhedi
    Trek to the base of the pass and camp at a busy settlement in Thorung Phedi. This place is located at the bottom of Thorung la Pass.
  • Day 15: Trek to Thorung La pass and Muktinath
    Begin trek early in the morning, passing over moraines and ridges. The 4-hour trek trail is steep yet easy, however, snowfall can become a problem sometimes. Pass through the prayer flags and chorten to reach a beautiful viewpoint. Trek for another 4 hours to reach a holy town of Muktinath and witness the famous Hindi and Buddhist pilgrimage site.
  • Day 16: Trek to Jomsom
    Vacate the lodge in Muktinath and trek to Jomsom.
  • Day 17: Flight to Pokhara
    Board the flight to Pokhara and enjoy enchanting views of the Himalayas on this 15 minute flight.
  • Day 18: Drive to Kathmandu
    Enjoy a scenic drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu followed by a farewell dinner at the hotel.
  • Day 19: Departure
    Our trek staff will drop all the guests to Kathmandu International Airport.

Itinerary
