Take the time to discover what the state of Sabah has to offer on this 7-day trip, where each day brings a new adventure. First, head off to the mighty Mt Kinabalu and marvel at some of Borneo’s most stunning panoramas as you trek to the summit, at an impressive 4,095m! Witness a spectacular sunrise from the top. After this great achievement, board the plane to Sandakan. Once you arrive, travel to the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre and meet one of mankind’s closest relations - the Orangutan. Next, visit the Rainforest Discovery Centre and get the chance to see the jungle from a different perspective on an amazingly high canopy walkway. Explore Gomantung Cave, the largest limestone and bird's nest cave in Sabah, before cruising along the Kinabatangan River and spotting plenty of local wildlife. Finish with a fascinating jungle walk near Oxbow Lake and catch your flight back to Kota Kinabalu.
Day 1 - Transfer Kota Kinabalu - Kinabalu Park
Pick up from your hotel lobby at 10:00am and transfer to Kinabalu Park. On your way to the National Park our driver will drop you at Nabalu Market for 20 minutes rest or souvenir shopping. Continue your journey to Kinabalu park. Check in at your Hostel either Grace Hostel or Rock Hostel. Lunch at your own expense. Free time & leisure until dinner at 6:00pm. Meals: Dinner
Day 2 - Kinabalu trek
Breakfast at Balsam restaurant at 7:30am. After breakfast meet your mountain guide at Sabah Park Registration office and then continue to the Power Station with a coach (approx. 15 minutes) for the climb beginning. Start the ascent to Laban Rata with packed lunch. The climb will last approximately 4 hours. Check-in at the Mountain Guesthouse. Free time for the rest of the evening.Meals: Breakfast, Packed Lunch, Dinner
Day 3 - Kinabalu trek - Return to Kota Kinabalu
Early wake up at 2:00am and starting of the ascent to the summit by torchlight. The climb will take about 3 hours. Witness the beautiful sunrise from the summit. Way down to Laban Rata Guesthouse for your breakfast, then to the Power Station. Transfer to Park HQ and lunch at park's restaurant. Get your certificate of great achievement before transferring back to your hotel in Kota Kinabalu.Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Day 4 - Flight from Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan - Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre - Rainforest Discovery Centre
This morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Sandakan. On arrival you will be met and transferred to Sepilok Jungle Resort, located in the middle of a tropical virgin rainforest and just 5 minutes walk to the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. Watch one of the nature's most endangered animal species - the "orang utan" or "man of the jungle" in local language swing from branches to branches towards the feeding station. Free time then watch the second feeding in the afternoon.
Afterwards, visit the Rainforest Discovery Centre located within the famous Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve. The Exhibition Centre and the Plant Discovery Centre will bring you a lot of information about the nature in the area. Then you will walk on a suspension bridge and end with the only Canopy Walk in Sandakan. Standing on 28m above the forest floor is truly amazing.Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Day 5 - Sandakan - Gomantung Cave - Bilit, Kinabatangan River
After breakfast, transfer to Gomantung Cave to explore the largest limestone and bird nests cave in Sabah where millions of swiftlets make the cave their home. Then, we will continue overland to Bilit, Kinabatangan River, home to the 10 species of primates namely Proboscis monkeys, langurs, macaques, orang utan, slow loris, western tarsier, 8 species of hornbills such as Rhinoceros Hornbill, Pied Hornbill, Black Hornbill, Helmeted Hornbill (50kg, 120cm), kingfishers, bubuls, trogons, flycatchers, sunbirds, broadbills, herons, mangrove snakes, vipers, estuarine crocodile, asian elephants and many many more wildlife. Take an afternoon cruise along the Kinabatangan River where you can observe wildlife on the boat itself. After dinner, enjoy some free time.Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 6 - Bilit, Kinabatangan River - Ox Bow Lake - Sandakan
Wake up to the calls of gibbons and birds. This morning we cruise to an Ox Bow Lake where we will take a walk in the jungle and have the opportunity to meet the 'bloodsuckers' in the jungle - leeches! Stay calm, relax and train your ears to the many fascinating sights and sounds of the jungle wildlife. After that, we will transfer to the Resort to stay overnight and get ready to go back home the next day.Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 7 - Flight from Sandakan to Kota Kinabalu
After breakfast, we will transfer to you to the airport for your flight back to Kota Kinabalu. End of tour.Meals: Breakfast

Physical rating: You must have a high level of fitness to take part in this trek. You will be walking at high altitudes every day and it will be physically demanding. In the months leading up to your trek, try walking with your daypack, climbing long staircases and add a couple of bricks to it for real training. Undertake regular aerobic exercise such as walking, jogging, swimming or cycling. The more preparation you have done in advance, the more you will enjoy it.
Suggested Packing List: Backpack (10 - 15 liters), sleeping bag (if desired-- sheets & blankets are provided), hiking poles, rain pants, plastic rain poncho, trekking boots, sandals/flip flops, thermals (socks, t-shirts, sweater), windbreaker, hiking trousers, shorts, wool hat/beanie, gloves, sun hat, sun block, sunglasses, flashlight/torch, camera (with extra batteries & memory card), personal medications, reusable water bottle, water purification tablets, toiletries (toothpaste, soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toilet paper, towel).
Food Budget: Please expect to spend at least 20 USD per day on food and beverages. Please note that food costs will vary depending on the number of portions consumed, location and availability.
