Trip Overview

Witness the natural magnificence of Bhutan with this amazing Druk Path trek and indulge in the exotic views of Mount Gangkar Puensum, the highest mountain in Bhutan and the highest unscaled mountain in the world. The Druk path commences from the Paro town and will take you through gorgeous landscapes, blue pine forests, pristine lakes, ancient monasteries, ethnic villages, and high ridges. You will also get the opportunity to visit the famous Taktsang or Tiger’s Nest Monastery. Apart from trekking, the tour also includes a visit to the National Museum of Bhutan- Ta Dzong and Paro Rinpung Dzong. The trekking tour ends as we reach the capital of the country, Thimphu, where we will visit the Royal Takin Preserve.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival Paro International Airport/Excursion in Paro
    All the guests will be warmly welcomed by our staff at the Paro International airport. The guests will visit National Museum of Bhutan - Ta Dzong and Paro Rinpung Dzong, followed by drop-off at the hotel. The guests can rest for the day and enjoy lunch and dinner at the hotel.
  • Day 2: Acclimatization in Paro
    This day is reserved for acclimatization purposes, and we will explore the Paro town. We will hike to the famous Taktsang Monastery after breakfast. This trek will take approximately 2 hours, and you will witness beautiful pine trees, ridges, and valleys on the way. After completing our trek to Taktsang Monastery, we will proceed towards Kyichu Lhakhang Monastery via a private vehicle. The rest of the day is free, and guests can spend leisure time in the town.
  • Day 3: Paro to Jili Dzong
    Today we will trek on a gravel road for 30 minutes and begin a steep climb to reach an area of blue pine and fir forest. After crossing the bridge, we will have to descend about 100 meters to reach the campsite at Jili Dzong.
  • Day 4 : Jili Dzong to Jangchulakha
    We will begin today’s trek with a steep climb for about 1.5 hours. The trail will lead us into a thick alpine and rhododendron forest and you will encounter herders and yaks on the way. Today’s trek will give you a glimpse of the semi-nomadic lifestyle. We will spend the night at a campsite in Jangchulakha.
  • Day 5: Jangchulakha to Jimilang Tso
    Today’s trail follows a ridge and will offer stunning views of the mountain and valleys. The campsite for the night is close to the Jimilang Tso lake, and we will spend stay the night here.
  • Day 6: Jimilang Tso to Simkotra
    We will trek through a dwarf rhododendron forest and the Janetso Lake. Once again we will encounter yak herders on the way. Eventually, we will reach Simkotra Tso Lake for an overnight stay at its campsite.
  • Day 7: Simikotra to Phajoding
    Today’s trail will be gradual, and if the weather is clear, we will be able to see Mount Gangkar Puensum, the highest mountain in Bhutan. We will now descend after crossing this pass and reach Phajoding for overnight stay.
  • Day 8: Phajoding to Thimphu
    Trek past the Phajoding Monastery and move downhill through a blue pine forest. We will have to trek for 3 hours more until we reach Chokhortse temple. The trail now gets steep downhill and we will reach a radio transmission tower to mark the end of this tour. The drivers will be waiting at this point and will transfer everyone to the hotel. We will stop for lunch on the way and visit Royal Takin Preserve. 
  • Day 9: Departure from Paro International Airport
    After enjoying breakfast, our trekking staff will drive all the guests to Paro International Airport for departures. We will bid farewell to each other and take with us some beautiful memories of this amazing tour.
