Trip Overview

This trek is designed for those who want to get off the dejected path. Chume la trek makes it possible for you to witness the most scenic trails. This trek includes dazzling alpine meadows, aquamarine blue glacial lakes, and forests with spectacular views of the Himalayan Mountains. This diversity of flora and fauna provides us the opportunity to spot some wildlife as well. This is the perfect trek to feed your adventurous hunger. You don’t need to master walking; an average physical condition with the capability of 10-15 km walking in a day is enough

Itinerary

Day 1: Paro Airport – Paro

You’ll fly to Paro airport in beautiful Paro valley with forested ridges, clear mountain air, imposing monasteries and welcoming Bhutanese people in their traditional outfits. After completing the custom and immigration facility, you’ll be taken to your hotel in Paro by a Bhutan Excursions representative.  

Slate – roofed farmhouses, rushing glacial river, snow cover peaks, and graceful willow trees – Paro is one of the most beautiful valleys in Bhutan. Your sightseeing will start with the following places:

Kyichu Lhakhang

The Jowo Temple of Kyichu is one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. It was built in the 7the century, and it is considered as one of the 108 borders taming temples built by the emperor, Songtsen Gampo. There is also an old temple nearby built by HM Kesang Choden Wangchuk which was later consecrated by HH D K Rinpoche.

Rinpung Dzong

This place is also known as the 'fortress of the heap of jewel’. It was built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal on a hill above Paro Township. The path which leads to Dzong is very interesting. It passes through a covered bridge and then up towards a paved stone path alongside imposing outer walls of the temple.

Drukgyel Dzong

Dzong was built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal with a picturesque village nestling below its ramparts to celebrate its victory with Tibetan Invaders. Sadly the walls were destroyed by fire in 1951. If the weather is clear and you’re lucky enough you can see the breathtaking Himalayas.

After visiting these splendid places, you’ll stay overnight in the hotel of Paro.

Day 2: Hike to Tiger’s nest

On the second day of your trek, you’ll hike up to Taktsang, also known as Tiger’s nest. This monastery was built on a sheer cliff high above the Paro valley. There are very interesting folk tales about this monastery you can enjoy here. You have to climb a very beautiful pine forest to reach here. This place is very beautiful and loaded with nature. After that, you’ll come back to the hotel in Paro through the different path loaded with the thick pristine forest of oaks.

Day 3: Paro – Jili Dzong

You have to make your way back to the coniferous forest from the ancient route till Jili La Pass. It is a short, gentle walk up to the yak pasture (3450m). If you want you can walk along the ridges to witness the stunning view of the mountains. You’ll get a chance to camp at Jili Dzong overnight.

Day 4: Jili Dzong to Jnagchup Lakha

After a short climb, you’ll reach another yak pasture at a height of 3780m. If you’re lucky then you can listen to monal pheasants, and if the weather is supportive you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Mount Jomolhari. You’ll do overnight camping at Jangchup Lakhta.

Day 5: Janchup Lakha to Tsobcha

Once the steep climb is over you will move ahead to Jangchu La (4020m). This path will lead you to the Jimilangtsho Lake, following the popular Drukpath trek. After 15 minutes of walk you’ll reach to the campsite at Tsobcha.

Day 6: Tsobcha to Zangtetsho Lake

You will gradually start walking alongside the lake before reaching the precarious path to Chume La (4400m). The view from here is splendid. You may enjoy the view beside the lake. You’ll camp at the Zangtetsho Lake.

Day 7: Zangtetsho Lake to Ngabtsho

You’ll start your day with a steep and short climb up to Lache La. You can see snow-capped mountains, including Gangkhar Puensum and many more in the line. You’ll reach the rocky mountain after 2 hours of hiking. After that, you’ll pass through Tshosumtoe and gradually towards the campsite.

Day 8: Ngabtsho to Tsheringmae

You’ll start walking from the rocky and narrow path with beautiful views till Saga La. There’s a narrow and rough trail which descends 300m from Saga La. After completing this rough trek, you’ll reach Yangtse La (4205m). After half an hour, you’ll reach Tsheringmaae Lhabtsho.

Day 9: Tsherinmae Lhabtsho to Thimphu

In the short walk from the camp to Jokerim La, you’ll reach Thimpu valley. The altitude of this place is 2400m. Here you’ll stay at the hotel overnight.

Day 10: Paro to Bangkok

After breakfast, you’ll be dropped at the airport by our representative and your journey will come to an end.

Good to Know

Physical fitness

You don’t need to be an athlete for joining this amazing trekking trip. You must have an average physical condition and habit of walking up to 15 km in a day. It is suggested to start practicing outdoor activities before. You may go for a walk, swimming, light jogging, and running. It is necessary to keep yourself fit.

Food

You’ll get a chance to enjoy authentic Bhutanese cuisine during this amazing journey. You’ll get tasty and food at the hotel and during your stay at the camp, freshly cooked food will be provided to you. You may keep light snacks along with you.

Cancellation Policy

  • If you cancel within 30 days, you’ll get 70% of the total amount.
  • If you cancel within 21 days, you’ll get 50% of the total amount.
