Trip Overview

Located in the lap of Trishul Massif, amidst the Himalayas, at an altitude of 16,470 feet, this trek is amazingly challenging and exhilarating. This trek is immensely popular and a center of attraction for all the trekkers as it surrounded by rock-strewn glaciers, snow-carpeted mountain ranges, and mysterious aura. The Roopkund Lake is also known as the Skeletal Lake or mysterious lake as it circled by hundreds of skeleton. This is one of the primary factors that adds to the popularity of this trek.

Itinerary

Day 1:

Around 7 am, you would be picked up from the Kathgodam Railway Station. Then, drive to Lohajung and then night stay at guest house which 210 km that might take approximately 10 – 11 hours.

Day 2: 

Drive from Lohajung to Wan, and then trekking to Ghairoli Patal which is a 6 km trek and might take 5 to 6 hours. Apart from that, the trek is of more than 1 hour. 

Day 3: Your trek begins from the Ghairoli Patal and then move towards the Bedni Bugyal via Ali Bugyal. 

Day 4: The trek begins from Bedini Bugyal and reaches Pathar Nachuni after covering 6 km in approximately 4-5 hours. 

Day 5: Now, from Pathar Nachuni, the trekking trail takes you to Baguwabasa via Kalu Vinayak, which would take 4-5 hours, covering 5 km. 

Day 6: The trek begins from Baguwabasa and moves towards the Roopkund, and further ascends towards the Junargali Top which is at 4924 meters. Then, return to Pathar Nachuni by covering 13 kilometers in not less than 9 to 10 hours. 

Day 7: The trek returns towards Lohajung via Bedini Bugyal and again drive to Lohajung from Wan. It is a 13 km trek, which would take 6-7 hours of trek and 1-hour drive too.

Day 8: Now, as soon as you are done with your breakfast, from Lohajung, you start moving towards Kathgodam. Reach there around 7 pm, covering 210km of drive which would take around 10-11 hours.

Good to Know

  • Smoking Cigarettes makes you lethargic and also causes breathing problem which might cause trouble in trekking efficiently. It is a suggestion that you should not smoke. 
  • Drinking on higher altitude might cause AMS that is Acute Mountain Sickness. It also reduces the oxygen level in your body and causes dehydration. 
  • Also, buying or carrying any types of illegal drugs is strictly prohibited.
  • You must listen and follow the instructions of the guide.
