Trip Overview

The Rupin pass is located right at the border of the two Indian states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. The trekking expedition however starts in Uttarakhand. The towns that are nearest to the starting point are Mori and Purola. The Dhaula base is where we start the expedition. The trek starts at Uttarakhand, but majority of the trail runs through Himachal Pradesh.

During this trek we will be witnessing the famous Kailash Peak, the gushing Rupin River, many waterfalls, brooks, streams, glacial meadows, oak and rhododendron forests and many snow bridges. The final stretch of the trek will lead us into a snow walled gully where our voices will echo and make for a thrilling experience.

The best time to undertake this trek, for obvious weather conditions and unrestricted views of the Himalayas, are May to June and September through October.

For information, in case you would like to take cash with you in the journey, you must take it out in Dehradun, Purola and Mori, which are the nearest towns with ATM points.
