Trip Overview

If you want to go on a beautiful trekking journey, then Green lake trek is for you. It is considered a moderate trek in Sikkim, and is situated near Mt. Kanchenjunga. This is an unexplored trek because it is a difficult one and more expensive than other treks. The arrangements for this trek are difficult as transport facilities are not available and it is not easy to get a permit for the restricted area. But once you reach this spot, you will not feel like going back home. 

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival 
    You will arrive at Bagdogra airport our representative will receive you. From there you will be driven to Gangtok, and your stay will be at the hotel.
  • Day 2: Preparation and arrangements
    This day will be free as you will prepare and arrange your gears before starting the trekking journey. 
  • Day 3: Gangtok - Lachen
    The journey from Gangtok to Lachen will be covered by jeep which will take around 6-7 hours and your overnight stay will be at Lachen. 
  • Day 4: Lachen - Tallem
    You will start your day with a walk towards Zema. After crossing a bridge, the trail turns towards the west and follows the left bank of the Zemu Chu to Green Lake. The trail is wide and broad for the first 6 km. Sometimes the route is destroyed by landslides. After 6 km, you will reach Tallem, and your overnight stay will be in tents. 
  • Day 5: Tallem - Jakthang
    On this day, the trail will enter some of the most magnificent forest areas for which Sikkim is famous. You will have to cross a bridge and traverse through the forest to Shobuk. Then the trail will descend steeply for 12 km to Jakthang. Your overnight stay will be in tents.
  • Day 6: Jakthang - Yabuk
    From Jakthang, you will have to climb through the forest to Yabuk and after three hours of walking, you will reach the Zemu Glacier. You will reach Yabuk by lunchtime.
  • Day 7: Yabuk - Rest camp
    Your rest camp will be situated right opposite Siniolchu which has a stunning view of one of the most beautiful mountains in Sikkim. 
  • Day 8: Rest Camp - Green lakes
    The trail from rest camp towards the Green Lake is along a moraine ridge. Finally you will reach Green lake camp which is a vast open ground. Your overnight stay will be in tents.
  • Day 9: Rest day
    Your will be able to relax on this day.
  • Day 10: Green lakes to Yabuk
    The return journey will be quicker as it is downhill.
  • Day 11: Yabuk to Jakthang
    It will be the same route to Jakthang.
  • Day 12: Jakthang to Tallem
    The trek on this day is mostly downhill along with a walk in the forest. It will be the last nights’ camp in Tallem.
  • Day 13: Tallem to Gangtok
    You will depart from Tallem at 9 am and reach Gangtok via Lachen. Your night stay will be at a hotel in Gangtok.
