Gokyo Valley Circuit Trekking is a renowned trail in Nepal and popular amongst the trekkers in the Everest Region that takes you through scenic sights. Second popular most trek after Everest Base Camp in the region; Gokyo Valley Trekking takes you to a lesser visited trail with a grander view of Everest.

Commence the trek on this spectacularly beautiful trail that passes through turquoise alpine lakes, mesmeric panoramic mountain views, monasteries at high altitude, Sherpa villages, and a wide-rare variety of flora and fauna.

The trek begins with a 40 minutes flight to Lukla in the early morning while you relish the breathtaking views of snow-capped mountain peaks. Moving to Phakding- a short hike from Lukla, next day, we head to Namche Bazar- the gateway to Mount Everest.

Spending another day at the place for acclimatization, we can get insight into the Sherpa culture and lifestyle. Next day wake up with the chirping of the birds and mesmeric views of the Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Khantenga, Thamserku, etc.

Moving to Machhermo passing through the world’s second largest glacier Ngozumpa, we then head to Gokyo village. This bestows us with the opportunity to explore Gokyo village taking a morning stroll to Gokyo Ri, as we halt here for acclimatization.

Then we move up to Machhermo and drop to Phortse that lies under the pinnacles of Tawoche and Cholaste mountains in the Khumbu region. The route also passes through Tyangboche monastery at Tyangboche, which is an important Buddhist monastery and biggest in the Khumbu region.

We head back to Lukla through the small village of Jorsale. Then take a flight back to Kathmandu from Lukla to mark our journey’s completion.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arriving in Kathmandu (1250m)

As you arrive in Kathmandu, you will be meeting our representative at the airport. Private vehicle is arranged for your drop to the hotel. You can either take rest for a while or meet us at our office to know about all the details of the trek arrangement. You will have an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Fly to Lukla (2840m) and Trek to Phakding (2610m)

After breakfast, you will be boarding an early flight to Lukla from Kathmandu enjoying thirty minutes of breathtaking Himalayan views. From the Tenzing-Hillary Airport, we move on to meet the rest of the crew to make further arrangement and final preparations for the trek. Beginning the adventurous expedition, we then trek to Phakding that takes around three hours and passes through Chaurikharka village to follow the Dudhkoshi River, a short one to assist acclimatization. Here we have an overnight layover in a lodge. 

Day 3: Trek to Namche Bazar (3340m)

On Day three, the walk starts along with pine forests and pasture land which is of around three hours to Namche Bazar. During the trek, we cross several suspension bridges at various points of the Dudh Koshi River. The climb becomes steeper once we reach the confluence of Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi. After trekking for two hours, we reach to a viewpoint that gives us the first sight of Mount Everest. Passing through Jorsale, we reach Namche Bazar known to be the gateway of Everest and a trading center where we take rest for the day.

Day 4: Rest at Namche for Acclimation

The biggest settlement in the Khumbu region, Namche Bazar is well facilitated with modern day requisite including ATMs, restaurants, bakeries, Internet Cafes, and more. It is our layover point for the day, but we can go for a short hike to a nearby viewpoint- Thame or Khunde. Taking a tour of the place, we can visit the Tourist Visitor Center to know about Everest Climbers, explore Sherpa culture and lifestyle- talking with Sherpa people, and have a glimpse of mesmeric flora and fauna of the region.

Day 5: Trek to Dole (4200m)

We start our trek early in the morning to witness the sunrise and to get clear views of mountain ranges including Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Thamserku. The trek is of 5-6 hours that takes the waving path which lets you have a company of pleasing vegetation and animals including Himalayan Tahr, Musk Deer, Pheasant and more. Passing through Kayangjuma after a downhill, we reach the junction to EBC and Gokyo Valley. From this point, we trek to Mong La Pass where we witness the charming divine presence of sacred Khumbila. Then we move through Mong La Rhododendron forest where we get to witness the wildflowers and animal life in abundance. We also go across the bridges and astounding waterfalls and reach to the small village of Dole for an overnight stay.

Day 6: Trek to Machhermo (4470m)

The trek is roughly around 6 hours, and we start in the morning. After climbing a ridge, the trail takes you through Lhanarma to Luza, where we pass the summer settlements of the locals relishing the view of Kantega, Thamserku and Cho Oyu. Then we pass through small villages on the way with scenic hillside walk encircled with the views of deep Dudh Koshi Valley. This 5-6 hours trek ends at Machhhermo, which is also our stop for the day. The stop also makes you relish the sight of a beautiful stream that originated from Kyoji Ri and Phari Lapche that runs through this village where you can hear stories on the first sighting of Yeti.

Day 7: Trek to Gokyo (4790m)

On the day, from Machhhermo the trail ascends to Chorten through a ridge where the astounding views of Thamserku, Kangtega, and Cho-Oyu along with the valleys leave you awestruck. The valley starts to widen slowly as the trail passes Chorten and reaches Pangka. Descending to the river bank, we then begin our steep climb to the moraine of Ngozamba Glacier. The trek takes us amidst the sheer magnificence where we witness the beauty of turquoise Lakes - Longpongo and Taboche Tsho. Passing through them we reach Gokyo village, where we can relish the beatific view of the third lake Dudh Pokhari. Encircled with the sixth highest mountain Cho-Oyu, after 4-5 hours of adventurous trek we halt at this beautiful village, making its outstanding periphery our shelter for the day.

Day 8: Rest Day at Gokyo

Gokyo is an elegantly beautiful small village in the Himalayas in Nepal and renowned trade center where the Sherpa people run lodges to provide restful stay to the trekkers and wanders. Nestled by the side of Ngozumpa glacier - the biggest one in Nepal, Gokyo is home to yaks that can be seen grazing near the village. The day we spend here taking rest and strolling around taking a trip to the fifth lake via the fourth lake. It is an amazing opportunity to explore the place and its culture. We have our stay over for the night in a tree house lodge.

Day 9: Gokyo- Renjola Pass- Marlung

Early in the morning, we start our trek to Renjola pass. We leave the main trail of Gokyo Valley for Renjola route by Dudh Pokhari. After around three hours of trek, the vista of the Everest, Cholatse, Lhotse, and Taboche can be enjoyed. The trail continues down the stairs to reach Angladumba Tsho. Further, we see Relama Tsho and Renjo Lake and continue our walk through these narrow valleys with giant boulders to Lumde.

Day 10: Marlung-Thame-Namche Bazar (441m)

We follow the traditional root, the same that has been followed by Tibetan traders for centuries- a decent from Marlung to Thame. The trail makes us cross Bhote Koshi as we descend to Taranga and reach Langmuche Khola. This leaves us with amazing views of the mountains including Thamserku, Katenga, Kusum Kangguru, and more. From the lodges, we can also see the famous Buddhist Shrine or Gompa at Thame. Crossing the bridge, we then reach to a place named Samde that offers a breathtaking view of the Mountains.  Moving further, we reach Thamo village known for a monastery called Khari Gompa which is the nunnery. And finally, we reach to Namche passing through some Gompas, prayer flags, Chortensa, and Mani stones, and stay here for the night.

Day 11: Namche-Phakding-Lukla (2800m)

Day eleven marks as the final day of the adventurous three-day high pass trek. We start from Namche and reaching down the steep to Lukla, which is filled with challenges and might leave you with shaky legs until you reach the airport area crossing the bridge over Dudhkoshi.

Day 12: Fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla

The day can be utilized for sightseeing or relaxation before you fly.

Day 13: Final Departure

The day marks as the final departure from Kathmandu, where you will be offered drop from hotel to the airport facility. The designated person drops you three hours before the scheduled flight time in a private tourist vehicle. You can certainly extend your trip by opting for another program.
