Trip Overview

Kalindi Khal Trek is one of the most breathtaking and rewarding treks in India. Passing over a high Col around 6,000 meters from camping beside Vasuki Tal, to stunning scenery including moraines, glaciers and majestic peaks, you will get everything in this tour. Kalindi Khal trek adds another ‘feather in the cap’ with a flavor to the beauty of Tapovan while exploring alpine meadows, network of gurgling streams and some of the most famous Himalayan peaks like Shivling, Bhagirathi and Meru. It combines two sacred Dhams of Gangotri and Badrinath, and offers the best of pilgrimage, climbing and elements of nature at its epitome.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Dehradun to Gangnani
    You will start your drive early in the morning from Dehradun to reach Gangnani. This place is famously known for its natural hot water spring baths. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at a hotel in Gangnani. 
  • Day 2: Gangnani to Gangotri
    After breakfast you will be driven to Gangotri via Harsil which is approx 25 km before Gangotri. You can take a halt at Harsil, which is known for the Wilson's cottage. You will reach Gangotri early and can visit the famous pilgrimage. The stay will be in a guest house at Gangotri.
  • Day 3: Gangotri to Bhojbasa
    |On the third day, you will start your trek from Gangotri to Bhojbasa. From Gangotri you will move along the beaten trail towards Chirbasa. From Chirbasa you will trek further to Bhojbasa, which will pass through dense forests. 
  • Day 4: Bhojbasa to Gaumukh to Tapovan
    After breakfast you will trek to Gaumukh, which is the source of the Ganges. The trek from Gaumukh to Tapovan has steep ascent, and as you will climb, the view of the surrounding peaks will become clearer. 
  • Day 5: Tapovan - Acclimatization
    Fifth day will be free for you to acclimatize, relax and enjoy the stunning snow-capped peaks, flora, fauna, and mountain landscape. 
  • Day 6: Tapovan to Nandanvan
    You will start the trek to reach the base of Bhagirathi group of peaks, Nandanvan.
  • Day 7: Nandanvan to Vasuki Tal 
    On this day you will trek along Chaturangi Glacier to reach Vasuki tal, which is a small and beautiful lake at the base of Mt. Satopanth and Vasuki Mountain. You will trek upward and arrive in about 6 hours. 
  • Day 8: Vasuki Tal to Khara Pathar
    You will start the trek to Suralaya Bamak (Khara Pathar) along with packed lunch. Your dinner and overnight stay will be in the camp on Moraine.
  • Day 9: Khara Pathar to Sweta Glacier
    After breakfast, you will trek to reach Sweta Glacier.
  • Day 10: Sweta Glacier to Kalindi Khal Base
    After breakfast, you will trek to reach the outlet of Suralaya valley. On the outside of the Chaturangi glacier you will find an outlet of Khali Pet valley which is surrounded by an unnamed peak and Mana Parvat. Further the trek is steep and difficult across the Suralaya glacier and along the northern slopes of Chandra Parvat. 
  • Day 11: Kalindi Khal Base to Raj Parav via Kalindi Khal
    On this day you will trek to Kalindi Pass and spend some time at the beautiful spot. After which you will trek down to camp at Rajparav.
  • Day 12: Raj Parav to Arwatal
    You will start your trek in the morning and reach Arwatal. 
  • Day 13: Arwatal to Ghastoli
    The trek on this day will start early and you will reach Ghastoli which is 16 km from Arwatal.
  • Day 14: Ghastoli to Mana to Badrinath
    After having breakfast you will start your trek to Badrinath which is situated on the banks of the Alakananda River. The walk is of seven hours which will bring you to Mana village, the last village before the border, where you will take a break for lunch. After that, a small 2 km drive will bring you to the town of Badrinath. You will check-in to a hotel on your arrival. You will visit the temple of Badrinath in the afternoon and then return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay. 
  • Day 15: Badrinath to Dehradun
    This will mark your last day. You will be driven down to reach Dehradun after breakfast.

  • Note: Personal luggage can be carried by mules and/or porters on chargeable basis.

  • Transport to reach Dehradun from hometown.
  • Personal expenses including tips, personal medicines, phone calls etc.
  • Any support in transportation apart from the things included above.
  • Accommodation in Dehradun.
  • Personal luggage with weight 12 kg per bag per person can be carried by porters/mules @ Rs 300 per day per bag.

Good to Know

It is always advised to the participants to carry essential clothing for trekking in high altitudes. You should always carry windproof and waterproof jackets, trekking trousers, woolen essentials, gloves, caps, etc. Also, carrying your own first-aid box is recommended so that all your required medications are available with you at all times.
