The state offers various trekking trails to adventure enthusiasts, and Baraadsar Lake is one of them. A high altitude lake, Baraadsar has recently become known to the trekkers and travelers. It offers untarnished treasures of nature and challenging trails to experience the ultimate thrill.

Itinerary

Day 1: Dehradun to Himri - 7 h drive

The day starts early from Dehradun, where you drive to the Tons Valley accompanied by an extremely beautiful route. Lose yourself into the glorifying sight of the mountains as the drive passes via Nainbag and Damta. You reach Purol- last big village on the route with scenic farmlands. After Purola the drive route diverges into the Tons Valley and cross Mori and Netwar. From Netwar you start following the Rupin River towards up. You drive on Himri- a roughly halfway between Netwar and Dhaula. You reach the destination, where you camp and stay overnight listening to the sound of clear blue water of Rupin River rumbling down the hills.

Day 2: Himri to Bheetri (2,500 m) to Kurla Thach (2,600 m) - 1 h drive + 5-6 h trek

After your breakfast, start your jeep travel from Himri to travel to Bheetri – last motorable village on the route. Bheetri is one large village with folks who are mostly agrarian. Once you reach Bheetri, start your trek crossing villages, a beautiful pond at the edge of the cliff, to reach Kurla Thach. The lake and the cliff overlook the Rupin Valley below, take a short break here, and enjoy the Mountain View. Continue your walk, which is a hike passing through the forest and reach Kurla Thach. It is a grassy meadow and home to Gujjars. Settle your tent here to spend the night at Kurla.

Day 3: Kurla (2,600 m) to Rikatik Odi (3,520 m) - 6-7 h

Wake up early in the morning, and start ascent trek, leaving the forest behind and reach on the top of the mountain face. The spot is called Simon Tee that offers a great view of higher peaks. As you continue, you experience a slight elevation. Then you cross a ridge and reach Rikatik Odi, a connecting point between Rupin and Supin valley. On the Rupin side, you find villages of Bheetri and Dhaula, and on the Supin side, there is Kasla and Fitadi Village. You find no trees, shrubs, and grasses at this height, but during spring the area is covered with beautiful flowers. The area offers a good camping sight, so settle here for the night.

Day 4: Rikatik Odi to Devbasa (3,650 m) - 5-6 h

On this day, we trek to Devbasa, start trek to reach Daldar- a grassy top that offers an excellent view of the snow-capped peak of greater Himalayas. It is an amazing spot to have a view of the local peaks like Kedar Kantha, and on the other side, you can see the village of Sewa. Continue the walk and reach Devbasa and set your camp here. The place offers a stunning view of the Surau forest.

Day 5: Devbasa to Baraadsar Lake (4,300 m) via Baraadsar Ridge (4,400 m)

Get ready for this long day, which is going to be tedious. Today your trek is mostly uphill, starting from Devbasa with a steep climb to the Baraadsar Ridge. It is the highest point of the trek, where you likely to encounter snow and glaciers on the way. It is going to be a tricky climb, as the trail of grasses and flowery meadows are replaced by stones and rocks. You notice the sound of rumbling water on the other side of the ridge as glaciers melt into streams. The view is extremely fascinating and refreshing. Now you start to descend and reach the lake that offers you a beautiful sight of towering cliffs. The day sum-up here, where you camp and stay for the night close to Baraadsar Lake.

Day 6: Baraadsar Lake to Devbasa - 4-5 h

After having your breakfast, leave for Devbasa. The steep trail of Bharaadsar Ridge is tricky, and one needs to walk slowly and carefully until you return to the greener terrains. Upon reaching the Devbasa campsite, you witness breathtaking views and having a relaxing time. 

Day 7: Devbasa to Surau forest- 7-8 h

Start your day late, as you cover little distance from Devbasa and move up to Daldar. Now move towards the Supin Valley as opposed to the Rupin Valley on your way up. As you enter the Supin Valley, enjoy trekking surrounded by forests. You witness streams of crystal clear water flowing amidst the green surrounding forms a picturesque view. Experience wilderness and have a peaceful time. You camp here in the forest region that also offers a view of Lewari Village and mountain ranges.

Day 8: Surau forest to Boincha (2,000 m) - 7-8 h

Today you cross the villages of Rala and Kasla surrounded by paddy fields and mountains. As you move ahead, you reach Fitadi Village- a large village in the region. From here, turn your direction to the valley to reach Boincha. Boincha is open area sides of the river, which make it ideal for camping. Spend the night here overlooking the Obra Valley.

Day 9: Boincha to Jakhol trek; Drive to Dehradun- 7 h

Start your trek early after breakfast and walk till Jakhol- a small village on the other side of the Supin Valley. It is the last day of the Baraadsar Lake Trek. Once you reach Jakhol, you drive back to Dehradun with wonderful memories and an amazing experience.
