A trail entirely covered with flowers, dense alpine forests, huge oak trees and birch takes you to the 3600m high Chanderkhani Pass. The 360 panoramic mesmerizing surrounding scenic views would take your breath away. Passing through different trails and hills, you would witness the green hills of Kullu and Parvati Valley to your south, Dhauladhar Mountain Range to your west, to the north lays the north twin peaks of Deo Tibba and Indrasan and to your east appears the east snow-covered peaks of Spiti- Dharamsura and Papsura. Brace yourself to witness one of the oldest democratic habitations presenting the tribal civilization and enriching culture of Malana.
Highlights
Day 1: Trek from Manali to Rumsu (4 hours)
It begins with a drive of approximately 21 Km from Manali to the Nagar Village which is situated on the left bank of River Beas. The Nagar Village presents an epic picture of valleys and castles. You can also visit the famous temples at Jagatsukh like Tripurasundari Temple. Also, the Russian Art gallery of the Russian Painter called Roerich is a huge center of tourist attraction. To witness the traditional essence of the Nagar Village, you would have to walk a steep trail gradually towards the Rumsu Village to reach Rumsuthach Campsite.
Day 2: Rumsu to Chiklani (5 hours Trek)
To witness the wide range of flora and fauna, you have to walk from the Rumsuthach towards Chiklani. The trail is entirely covered with oak and pine trees, Rhododendron bushes and wildflowers. The place is situated just below the Chanderkhani pass and presents a beautiful picture of the campsite in an open meadow.
Day 3: Chiklani to Nagruni via Chandekhani Pass (6 hours trek)
Here comes the climbing part of the trek. Gradually climbing the Chanderkhani pass would lead you to the highest point which is entirely snow-carpeted even during summers. From the highest point, witness the panoramic and extensive view of the mountain peaks of Lahoul Himalayas and Kullu. After that, you are supposed to climb down from the other side to reach Nagruni which is the night-halt campsite in the Malana Valley
DAY 4: Nagruni to Malana (6 hours trek)
From Nagruni, you have trek for four hours to reach Malana. The village itself is a representation of the ancient, historical, geographical and cultural diversity of Malana. The village is isolated and has its unique lifestyle and customs. It is one of the oldest democratic habitations presenting a unique picture of tribal civilization and establishment. After exploring, you have to trek for another two hours heading towards the road from where you would be picked up by a vehicle that drives you back to Manali.
A safe, comfortable and a thrilling trek is the priority of the organizer. Now, modification in the itinerary list can be done if required. The reason behind any changes or cancellation could be related to the safety measures or climatic changes. Cooperation of the participants is much expected.
