Firstly let us tell you that you should not confuse this trek with the famous Hampta Pass Trek.
During the Hampta Meadows Trek, you climb a meandering uphill path on the mountain slopes that are called Hampta Jot, instead of walking down in the valley in Hampta Pass Trek. The trek trail takes you through high pastures and meadows, and these lush green meadows that are home to Himalayan herbs and flowers.
Relish the walk high on the mountain slopes and witness the breathtaking views of the high mountain peaks. The region is dived into two parts by the Jobro River, starting from Piyangniru Glacier at the foot of Mount Deo Tibba. The trail is perfect for those who are interested in Himalayan flora and fauna.
Highlights:
Day 1: Manali to Marhi
You travel by a car/jeep to Jobra - the starting point of the trek. It will be an ascending trek starting on the left slope of Hamta River. The trek of 4 Hours, where you’ll be covering 3000m distance, is going to be tiring as you trek uphill on the trail that gains altitude rapidly. The trek passes through Maple, Silver Fir, Oak, and Pine forest. Once you cross, you enter the Marhi meadows that give you picturesque views and witness the glimpse of famous peaks of the Kullu Himalayas including Indrasan, Hanuman Tibba, Deo Tibba, Friendship Peak, Makerbeh, Ladakhi, Shikarbeh, Khand Pari, and Shitidhar.
Day 2: Marhi to Piyangniru
Today you enter an alpine zone as you walk besides the Jobri River. Walking further, you enter a glacier valley, where the entire area is encircled by high summits, massive moraines, and hanging glaciers. The glacier is the origin of Jobri River, and as you complete the 3900m distance of 4 hours, you have an ample amount of time to explore the surroundings.
Day 3: Piyagniru to Raurikhauli
The trek begins in the early morning, where you cross the glaciers to reach the other side. The trail gets little steeper in the starting, and after a while, it starts to descend to Raurikhauli. You can witness the site of local shepherds of Kullu Valley grazing their herds of sheep and goat.
Day 4: Raurikhauli to Manali
The day begins with the trek descending to Sethan Village, and swerves through some of the most spectacular and lush forests of the areas. The trail provides amazing experience of the diverse nature of vegetation. From the point, jeep/car picks you and drops you to your hotel in Manali.
