Trip Overview

Initiating the trip from Manali, relax and rejuvenate as you cross the hot water springs in Chika and Vasisht Temple. Capture enticing views of the towering Himalayas on the trek from Chika to Balu-ra-Ghera. Flowering meadows and deep valleys are the highlights of the trip that will astonish you with every step you take. Climb up the Hampta pass and Shea goru valley through dynamic and challenging trails to get involved in the picturesque views of waterfalls and wildflowers at the campsite. Interact with the local tribes and shepherds along the way to get acquainted with their ethos and lifestyle. Experience vivid natural beauty at Hampta valley and Lahaul valley as the Himalayan range appears right ahead on way to Chandratal Lake. Itinerary

Day 1: Manali to Chhika (2 Hours trek)
Ensure your arrival to Manali is before 9 AM. Assemble at Nehru Park, situated adjacent to Manali Mall road at 9 AM. Register with the guide and board the Jeep/car that will take you to Jobra, which is the initiating trek point. Begin the 2-hour trek along the Hampta River towards the north for a halt at Chikka. Admire gushing waterfalls and wildflowers at the campsite and stay overnight.

Day 2: Chhika to Baku-ra-Ghera (5 Hours trek)Trek towards the west along with the river leaving behind the tree line. Witness mountain meadows on either side as you gradually move towards a path paved by lush green grass and stones. Trek through a field of wildflowers to reach a flat ground area along the Hampa River, called Balu-ra-Ghera and stay overnight.

Day 3: Bakughera to Hampta Pass to Shea Goru (8 Hours trek)
The trek gets a bit challenging and takes about 3-4 hours to climb up the Hampta pass at an elevation of 4270 meters. Halt at the Hampta pass and enjoy mesmerizing views of Himalayan peaks such as DeoTibba, Indra Kila, and Indra Asan. Trek downwards for an hour through the meadows to reach Shea Goru. Spend a night at this beautiful campsite on the foot of the glacier.

Day 4: Shea Goru to Chhatru (5 Hours trek)Trek along the left bank of the mountain stream that descends down. Cross the mountain stream twice to reach Chhatru for a halt. This small roadside tourist spot is on the Manali-Spiti road, along the banks of the Chandratal river where you will stay overnight in the camp.

Day 5: Chhatru to Chandertal lake and back to Manali (9 Hours travel)
Get up early for breakfast and board the vehicle that will take you to Chandratal Lake. Cover small tourist spots like Chhota Dara, Bara Dara, and Batal along the way. Cross the Kunzam pass to reach the source of river Chandratal at an altitude of 4300 meters. Explore the beauty of the destination for a while and leave for Chattru via the same route. Cross over the Rohtang pass to reach Manali bus station in the late evening.

  • Notice of less than 30 days (from starting date of program): 50% fee will be refunded.
  • Notice of less than 15 days (from starting date of program): There will be no refund.
  • In case someone is unable to complete the program or abandon it due to any reason, no refund will be given.
