Chandertal is the source of the Duhangan River and the base of Deo Tibba Mountain. This trail takes you to the wonderful journey of Chandertal trek where you’ll see Duhangan River confluence with Beas near Jagatsukh village in Manali. You’ll see a small valley, and climb uphill to see the wonder of the Himalayas – Chandertal. It is a huge water reservoir in the rock bed.
Day 01: Manali to Jagatsukhv Chikka
Start your day by taking a drive from Manali to Jagatsukh and then 20 Km to hydro project which will take you to the barrage of this project. From here you’ll start trekking to this beautiful place. This is a 3 km long trek that passes through dense forest and then opens in a meadow. Chikka is a religious place known for serpent god Bhanaru Naag. Stay overnight in the camp at Chikka.
Day 02: Chikka to Seri
Trek along with Duhangan River up to 6 km. Seri is a beautiful river meadow. It is a lush green ground besides the river, and there is a huge waterfall at the head of the valley. Stay overnight at the shore of the river in the camp.
Day 03: Seri to Base of Deo Tibba
Start your day by crossing the river and then trek on a zigzag path to reach Tenta. Cross the river to reach the right bank and then cross a glacier to reach the birthplace of Duhangan River. Stay overnight in the camp on this ridge for overnight stay.
Day 04: Base of Deo Tibba to Chandertal
Start trekking uphill to reach Chandertal Lake. It is on the rocky cliff above the glacier. It is a holy place according to Hindu mythology. After coming down from the camp, start descending to Seri to fix camp here for overnight stay.
Day 05: from Seri to Manali
Start trekking from the same route to reach Chikka and Barrage of the hydro project. From here jeep will pick you and drop you off at Manali.
