Trip Overview

Lhasa also means the 'place of God', is the political and religious capital of Nepal. Lhasa is an ancient city holding history, surrounded by majestic Himalaya and situated at the altitude of 3,650m. The main attraction is the three grand Gelugpa monasteries build by Tsong Kha – Pa in the 15th century. Two centuries later fifth Dalai Lama, Lobsang Gyatso had transferred to the administrative center and started building Potala Palace. Lhasa is a center for old but active monasteries, visited by numerous Buddhist pilgrims.

Itinerary

Day 01 – Kathmandu to Lhasa

Fly from Kathmandu to Lhasa over the picturesque Himalayan ranges. Lhasa is the capital of Tibet, which means the place of the Gods. It is also the residence of his holiness the Dalai Lama. Meet with the representative at the airport and go to the hotel for taking rest in the afternoon.

Day 02 – Lhasa

After having a delicious breakfast, enjoy sightseeing of Ramoche Monastery, Potala Palace, and Norbulinka. Potala Palace is a legendary palace built at the top of the single hill by the leading king Songtsen Gompa. Norbulingka means Treasure Park - it is the biggest manufactured garden in Tibet. After sightseeing, come back to the hotel to stay overnight.

Day 03 – Lhasa

After having a delicious breakfast, go sightseeing in Jokhang Monastery, Sera monastery, and Barkhor market. Sera is a charming monastery situated 5km north of Lhasa. Jokhang monastery is located in the heart of ancient Lhasa. Lots of history is attached to this place. Barkhor market is the religious and social focus of Lhasa. After sightseeing, come back to the hotel to stay overnight.

Day 04 – Lhasa to Kathmandu

Today you’ll check out from the hotel to catch your flight for Kathmandu.
