Trip Overview

The Druk Path trek is one of the most famous tours in Bhutan that will take you through exquisite blue pine forests and high altitudes of this country. This trek will offer you exemplary mountain views of Jomolhari, Gangkar Puensam, Jichu Drake, and other Himalayan peaks. Visit the iconic Taktsang or Tiger’s Nest Monastery, located on the edge of a sheer cliff. This trek will also give you the chance to visit various other monasteries along with a night stay besides the pristine Simitokha Lake.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival at Paro
    Our drivers and representatives will receive all the guests at the airport and escort everyone to the hotel in Paro. After some well-deserved rest, we will visit the Drukgyel Dzong and Kyichu Lhakhang along with splendid views of Mt. Jomolhari. Drive back to the hotel for an overnight stay.
     
  • Day 2: Trek to Paro Taktsang and return
    Today we will hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, located on the edge of a sheer cliff. Follow a gradual trail to reach the monastery and enjoy lunch at the Taktsang cafeteria. Admire the magnificent architecture of the monastery and return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
     
  • Day 3: Trek to Jele Dzong
    Begin trekking towards the Jele Dzong on a gradual trail and enjoy stunning views of the snowcapped mountains on the way. Visit the Jele Dzong and spend the night at a campsite.
     
  • Day 4: Trek to Jangchulakha
    Today’s route climbs through alpine and rhododendron forests along with spectacular views of Mt. Jomolhari.
     
  • Day 5: Trek to Jimilang Tsho
    Follow a steep climb towards the Jangchu La Pass and witness sensational views of the surroundings along with the Jichu Drake. We will spend the night at a camp near Jimilang Tsho.
     
  • Day 6: Trek to Simitokha
    Today we will traverse through rhododendron forests and the Janetsho Lake. Trek past some herder’s camp and set up camp near the Simtokha Lake for an overnight stay.
     
  • Day 7: Trek to Phajoding
    The trail for today follows a gradual climb with enhancing views of Mt. Gangkhar Phuensum. Descend past Thujidrag Gompa and continue trekking through juniper and fir forest to reach Phajoding Gompa.
     
  • Day 8: Trek to Thimphu
    Get up early for breakfast and trek downhill through a forested trail of blue pine to reach Thimphu. Spend the night at a hotel in Thimphu.
     
  • Day 9: Departure
    Our drivers will drop all the guests to the airport for departure, after wholesome breakfast.
