The trekking trail follows basic Everest Base Camp route till Sanasa, and then the trek takes a different trail passing through Dudh Koshi River reaching Gokyo Village and then Gokyo Ri, also called Kala Pattar offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Everest, Lhoste, Cho Oyu, Makalu, and sacred lakes - Pokhari, Tanjung Tso, and Longpongma.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu

When you arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Sherpa Expedition & Trekking members will welcome you. Then you will be transported to the hotel and a company representative will you provide the itinerary explaining about the schedule, and more. You stay at a 3-star hotel for the day which is with breakfast included in the package.

Day 2: Guided Sightseeing in the Kathmandu Valley

The day starts at 8:30 am with a mouth-watering breakfast at the hotel. Then proceeds with a sightseeing trip to the Kathmandu Valley that includes sightseeing middle, heritage sites, and cultural pilgrim’s Valley. A private car and an expert city guide will be at your service.

Day 3: Fly to Lukla and Trek to Phakding

Early in the morning, you board a flight to Lukla (Tenzing Hillary Airport) accompanied with spectacular mountain views. The journey would be full of adventure, as the airport is denoted as the most dangerous one in the world. Upon reaching Lukla, light breakfast will be served, and then you start the trek. The 2610m trek is completed in 3 hours, and after reaching Phakding Village, you will be staying at a Guest House.

Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazaar

The trek starts following the trail along Dudh Kosi River while ascending through Himalayan Pine and Deodar Cedar forests covering 3440m distance in 5-6 hours, and reaching the village of Namche Bazaar- the biggest Sherpa Village. The village is a historical trading route for the Nepalese and Tibetan traders who exchange salt, dried meal, textile items, and other consumable. You stay here for the night at a guesthouse.

Day 5: Acclimatisation/Rest Day in Namche Bazaar

This village is a beautiful place, and the rest day here is ideal to do both acclimatize and explore. The rest day is important if you’re trekking in the higher elevation, as it helps you to acquaint with the changing and high altitudes and conditions. You can hike to twin villages of Khumjung and Khude and also try amazing bakery shops at Kunjung. You can also go for 5 hours of side trek to Everest View Hotel to enjoy the stunning view mountains. Stay at the same guesthouse. 

Day 6: Trek to Dole                                                                             

Resume the trek to Dole covering 4190m, the trail cross valley along the rhododendron, juniper, and lush coniferous forests. The sight is breathtaking, and after 4-5 houses we reach our destination and stay in a Guest House at Dole.

Day 7: Trek to Machhermo

The day marks the beginning of steady difficult treks that pass through dense forests, increasing altitude and lack of settlement areas. The trail continues to ascend along the side of the valley until we reach Machhermo, which is a small beatific village in the Khumbu region (and a home to Yeti – the mystical snowman). After 4490m trek of 5 hours, we stay here at a guesthouse for the night.

Day 8: Trek to Gokyo

Begin with the ascent of 300m to reach Gokyo Valley, the main destination of the trek program. It is a small settlement area at the base of Gokyo peak, where the largest glacier (Ngozumpa Glacier) of the Himalayas lies. After the trek of 5 hours covering the distance 4790m, take rest for the night at a guesthouse.

Day 9: Trek to Gokyo Ri and Trek to Machhermo

The trek takes you further to Gokyo Ri and Gokyo Peak giving you spectacular views of the Mount Everest, Cho Oyu, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, and Lhotse. Gokyo Ri is a mountain peak in the Khumbu region and famous for its jaw-dropping scenery. From the point, we start to descend back to Machhermo and stay for the night at a guest house. The trek is of 8 hours covering 4470m distance.

Day 10: Trek to Namche Bazaar

The day starts with the journey back to Namche Bazaar, where the trekking trail is quite easy and comfortable traversing through several Sherpa settlements.  The route takes 6 hours to cross, and then we stay at a guesthouse in Namche Bazaar.

Day 11: Trek to Lukla

The trek continues downhill to Lukla, and after 7 hours of trek, we reach the destination and can explore nearby areas, and then take rest at the guest house.

Day 12: Fly back to Kathmandu

Board early day flight to Kathmandu, and explore the place or just relax. The guide will assist you further with sightseeing and shopping. Stay at the 3-star hotel, and enjoy appetizing farewell dinner.

Day 13: Transfer to Airport

The day marks an end to this beautiful and memorable trek journey of yours. A representative of Sherpa Expedition & Trekking will take you to the airport for your scheduled flight after a yummy breakfast.

Good to Know

The trekking trip surely bestows an amazing experience to you. You’ll be accommodated at a 3-star hotel in Kathmandu, and lodge/teahouses during the trek with attached bathrooms. You will be served all meals during the trek- breakfast, lunch and dinner, breakfast in Kathmandu, and farewell dinner in Kathmandu on the last day. Private car/van/bus for pick and drop to airport-hotel-airport. The best season for the trek is in Autumn- September to November and Spring- March to May.
