Trip Overview

This is an extraordinary trek that will take you from Rara Lake, which is the biggest lake of Nepal, to Khaptad National Park located in West Nepal. Both Rara Lake and Khaptad National Park are surrounded by alpine vegetation. While being on this trek you will come to see numerous varieties of flora and fauna. These are the protected sites in western Nepal.

You will find a few settlement areas and teahouses which will make your camping comfortable. The aim of the new route is to link these tourist destinations of Nepal that are in the shadow. Your journey will begin with taking a flight from Nepalgunj to Talcha Airport which is situated in Mugu.  

Itinerary

Day 1: Touchdown in Kathmandu 

You will meet our Sherpa Expedition and Trekking staff at the airport and will be taken to your hotel. After a while you will be briefed about your trek followed by a short meeting with your guide. 

Day 2: Flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj

After you reach Kathmandu, you will take a flight of 50 minutes to reach Nepalgunj.  

Day 3: Flight to Talcha in Mugu 

You will take a flight of 45 minutes to reach Talcha in Mugu followed by three and a half hours trek to reach Rara Lake. Your overnight stay will be in a tent. 

Day 4: Excursion around Rara Lake

This day will be scheduled for an excursion around Rara Lake which is situated at an altitude of 2990m. While you explore the Rara Lake, you will trek towards Murma Top from where you will have a beautiful view of the lake and mountains. Then you will return to the lake and stay there overnight.   

Day 5: Trek to Sirkot

You will walk downhill towards Khaytad. After you reach Majghat, you will start walking downhill till you reach Murma. From there you will head towards Sirkot passing through Jhaudi Khola, Bapani, Nigalbot and Masane which will take you around 6-7 hours to reach. Your overnight stay will be in a tent. 

Day 6: Sirkot to Jholunge Pul

After breakfast you will head towards Jholunge Pul from Sirkot. It will take you around 7 hours to reach Jholunge Khola which is situated at an altitude of 1400m. 

Day 7: Trek to Kolti 

You will trek to cross the Karnali River to enter Bajura district and continue till Kurane Jugala via Chepi village. Then you will head towards Kolti passing through Alange Chaur, Chulighat Badhu, Badhu Bagar, Badhu Matela, Pipal Dali, Raut Badhu and Partola which will take you around 6-7 hours to reach. 

Day 8: Trek to Martadi 

In the morning, you will leave Kolti and head towards Martadi which is situated at an altitude of 1591m. It will be a long trek which will take around 10 hours to reach Martadi. Your overnight stay will be at Martadi. 

Day 9: Martadi to Dogadi

We will trek towards Dogadi which is situated at a height of 1490m. The trail will be slightly down towards Dogadi which will take you around 6 hours. Your overnight stay will be at Dogadi.  

Day 10: Trek to Khaptad Campsite from Dogadi 

You will leave Dogadi and head towards Khaptad Campsite situated at an altitude of 3020m. You will trek upwards for 8-9 hours to reach Khaptad Campsite. Your overnight stay will be at Khaptad Camp site. 

Day 11: Exploring Khaptad National Park and Khaptad Lake 

This day you will get an opportunity to explore Khaptad National Park. You will visit the Khaptad museum and trek towards Khaptad Danda and visit Patan and Tower. After you have explored the National Park, you will walk to reach Khaptad Baba’s Ashram and Triveni which will take you around 2 hours. Your overnight stay will be at the camp. 

Day 12: Trek to Bajhang

You will continue trekking to reach Bajhang which will take you around 9 hours. Your overnight stay will be at Bajhang.  

Day 13: Dhangadi 

You will walk towards Dhangadi which will take around 9 hours to reach. 

Day 14: Flight or drive to Kathmandu

Your trek will come to an end as you will return to Dhangadi and then to Kathmandu. You will take the 1 hour flight to Kathmandu and will be taken to the hotel by our representative. Your overnight stay will be at the hotel.  

Day 15: Final departure 

This will be the last day of your journey and you will be taken to the International Airport by our staff.

  • Inform us about any cancel 14 days before flight date. 
  • 20% store sum is non-refundable 
  • It is advised to delay your outing rather dropping it as delay charge of USD 150 will be deducted from your development store and remaining sum will be moved as your equalization sum which you can use for your next trip with us.
