Trip Overview
Itinerary
- Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu and Check-in at hotel
Reach Kathmandu International Airport and our representative will meet you there and transfer you to the Hotel. The tour manager will meet you at the Hotel and brief all the participants about the trip.
- Day 2: Drive to Pokhara
Enjoy early morning breakfast and transfer to the Bus stand, where you will board a bus. The 6 hour journey will end at Pokhara. Spend a night at a 3-star hotel in Pokhara.
- Day 3: Fly from Pokhara to Jomsom and Trek to Kagbeni
The trek staff will transfer you to the Pokhara airport from where you will board a scenic flight towards Jomsom. Commence the 3-hour trek from Jomsom towards the checkpoint for Upper Mustang Trek and witness the majestic view of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Tukuche peak. Overnight accommodation at a teahouse/lodge in Kagbeni will be arranged.
- Day 4 : Trek to Chele
Start the trek early in the morning and follow the western route on the east bank of the river. Reach a broad valley Chuksang through a flat dry, desert-like trail. Trek further towards Tangbe village, gradually reaching the end of the valley. Cross the bridge over Kali Gandaki and follow a steep trail to Chele. Stay in a tented camp for the night with beautiful views of the Himalayan range.
- Day 5: Trek to Geling
Trek on the edge of a stupendous ravine and pass a stone cairn. Reach Samar town and move upwards towards an enormous canyon. Cross another valley and a stream from where you will reach Geling town. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.
- Day 6: Trek to Charanga
Traverse through Tangmar Chu stream and land at the Mani divider in Colt. Further, trek towards Charang town and witness a five story Dzong and red Gompa. Spend the night at a guesthouse.
- Day 7: Trek to Lo Manthang
Follow a climbing trail till Lo-Gekar Gompa and proceed towards Lo-Manthang. The trek route includes minor climbing, following the walled city of Lo. Cross a stream and reach the destination. Night stay at a guesthouse is arranged.
- Day 8: Explore Namgyal Gompa and Tingkhar and return
2 Hours climb to Namgyal Gompa and explore the area. Trek further towards Tingkhar, which is the last town in the area. Trek back to the guest house in Lo Manthang and stay overnight.
- Day 9: Trek to Drakmar
The trail rises continuously till the final climb to Chogo La. The route become short and crosses the Charang stream. Move to Lo Gekar and touch base at Ghar Gompa. Cross an elevated valley and reach Dramkar.
- Day 10: Trek to Shyangmochen
Descend down, passing through stone divider and fields of Dramkar to reach Ghami, followed by Jaite. Drop again to Chhung-Kah and follow the route to Tama Gaon. Trek further down to Shyangmochen, where you will stay for the night.
- Day 11: Trek to Chhusang
Follow a stream down to Chussang or follow an alternate route through Ranchung Cavern. Spend the night a guest house.
- Day 12: Trek to Muktinath
Pursue the stream and a steep climb to the valley floor. Drop down the stream through a suspension bridge and stroll towards Muktinath. Stay overnight at a guest house.
- Day 13: Trek to Jomsom
Take a side trip to Bon Punt soling Monastery in Lubra. Follow the upstream trail of the river from PangaKhola Valley. Trek through fenced fields, apple trees and Village school to reach Bon Punt soling Monastery.
Follow the route to Kali Gandaki and leap across the Panga River and reach Jomsom. Spend a night at a guest house.
- Day 14: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara
Take an early morning flight to Pokhara and transfer to a 3-star hotel. Explore the beautiful valley of Pokhara.
- Day 15: Drive to Kathmandu
Enjoy early breakfast and drive back to Kathmandu via a tourist bus. Join the farewell dinner at hotel and stay overnight.
- Day 16: Departure
Our staff will drop you at the Kathmandu International Airport for departure.

The best months for Upper Mustang trek are March to November. The trek route doesn’t receive much rainfall, even in the monsoon season, therefore many trekkers travel during May and celebrate the colorful Tiji festival of this region.
