The Lower Dolpo trek follows an adventurous high pass trail to experience the colorful Tibetan culture. This region lies in Shey Phoksundo National Park, nestled between Tibetan plateau and Dhaulagiri range. This area beautifully preserves Tibetan culture with numerous ancient monasteries. Experience mesmerizing views from the top of three high passes, Kangmara La, Numu La, and Baga La. Rejoice and rejuvenate at the Phoksundo River and pretty teahouses in the villages. The Lower Dolpo trek is full of hidden valleys and natural panorama. Witness the offbeat trail with the arid and dry landscape. Trek along the Bheri River and narrow valleys and enjoy the cultural walk to untouched valleys and mesmerizing landscapes.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu and Check-in at hotel
    Reach Kathmandu International Airport and our representative will meet you there and transfer you to the Hotel. The tour manager will meet you at the Hotel and brief all the participants about the trip, followed by a welcome dinner.
  • Day 2: Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj
    Board a bus or flight to Nepalgunj, a town in western Terai. Overnight stay at a hotel in Nepalgunj.
  • Day 3: Fly to Nepalgunj to Juphal/Trek to Juphal to Dunai
    Take a flight to Juphal to reach the trekking point. Commence trekking through the local villages and follow the riverside. Cross Roop Ghar and water mill to reach Dunai village. The village has a school, check post and government offices. Overnight stay at Dunai.
  • Day 4 : Trek to Tarakot
    Follow the upstream of Bheri River and trek through some small villages with monasteries. Reach Tarakot, situated high above the Thuli Beri River. This small settlement has beautiful mani stones and cultivating fields. Overnight stay at Tarakot will be arranged.
  • Day 5: Trek to Laini Odar
    Enjoy breakfast and start trekking towards Laini Odar. Pass through Laisicap and Kanigaon, along a river. Witness great views of Putha Huinchuli and Churen Himal. Reach Laini Odar camping site, situated around a waterfall. Overnight stay at Laini odar.
  • Day 6: Trek to Nawarpani
    Trek via Chhyugar and Toltol through deep gorges and scary cliffs. Reach Nawarpani and stay overnight.
  • Day 7: Trek to Dho Tarap
    Start trekking along the Tarap Khola River via Ghyamghar and Langa. Reach a fascinating settlement named Dho Tarap which manifests the real attributes of Dolpo.
  • Day 8: Acclimatization at Dho TarapAcclimatize at Dho Tarap and visit famous monasteries, namely, Ringo Bumpa, Kakar Gompa, Drakmar Dewa, Mekhyim Monastery, Dhoro Monastery and a Bon Gompa of Shipichowk.
  • Day 9: Trek to Numa La base campStart trek to Numa La base camo via Crystal Mountain School, health post and Tokyu village. Enjoy spectacular views of Sharing Gompa on the way and reach Numa la base camp for an overnight stay.
  • Day 10: Trek to Danighar via Numa La pass
    Prepare for a challenging trek and follow a steep uphill trail to the top of Numa La. Capture majestic views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Norbu Kang, and Churen Himal from there. Follow the Gyambo Khola to reach Danighar and stay overnight at the campsite.
  • Day 11: Trek to Temche via Baga La pass
    Today’s walk includes a vertical uphill trek to Baga La pass. Enjoy bird’s eye view of Norbung Lang Peak and Phoksundo Lake from the top. Descend down to a gorgeous meadow and reach Temche.
  • Day 12: Trek to Phoksundo
    Descend down to Yak Kharka followed by ascending trail towards Ringmo. Trek through lush pine vegetation, junipers, and cypress with views of huge cliffs and waterfalls. Thirty minutes downhill trek from Ringmo to the campsite at beautiful Phoksundo Lake.
  • Day 13: Explore the Phoksundo Lake
    Explore the neighboring regions, Ringmo village, monasteries and glaciers. Visit religious sites at the park and enjoy scenic view of the Phoksundo Lake.
  • Day 14: Trek to Chepka
    Trek through Chunuwar and Recchi, followed by a forest of pines, birches and bamboo. Reach Chepka after 5-6 hours of trekking and stay overnight.
  • Day 15: Trek to Juphal
    Trek through arid landscapes and beautiful fields of barley and wheat in Shanta and Khangadanda. Witness huge walnut, peach and apricot tress on the way and reach Juphal village. Visit the marketplace and stay overnight.
  • Day 16: Juphal to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj
    Board a flight to Nepalgunj and then to Kathmandu. Overnight stay at hotel in Kathmandu.
  • Day 17: Departure
    Our staff will drop all the guests at Kathmandu International Airport for departures.
