Trip Overview

The Ganesh Himal is a gathering of six major peaks that form a natural barrier with Tibet. The trek starts from Samari Bhanjyang and takes one through stunning landscapes and ethnic settlements of the Magar, Tamang and Gurung communities. Enjoy your time with nature as you embark on a trip that’s surely going to etch a long-lasting memory which you’ll cherish forever. 

Itinerary

  • Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival
    Our staff will pick you and drop you at the hotel, where you can join the welcome dinner in the evening.

  • Day 02: Kathmandu to Samari Bhanjyang (6 to 7 hours drive)
    You’ll pass through Trishuli bazaar – a small and interesting traditional market town. You can enjoy scenic views of terraced farm fields and hills through gravel roads. You’ll arrive at Samari Bhanjyang, which is the starting point of the trek.

  • Day 03: Samari Bhanjyang to Katunje Bazaar (6 to 7 hours)
    Begin trekking on the trail that descends for a while and then climbs uphill. You’ll pass through several terraced farms, small villages, and dense pine and rhododendron forests. After crossing this, you’ll reach plain areas of Katunje market from where you’ll get a glimpse of Ganesh Himal.

  • Day 04: Katunje Bazaar to Kintang Phedi (5 to 6 hours)
    Start trekking on the trail that descends towards Lapang Besi. From here trek along the banks of Ankhu Khola and pass through traditional villages, terraced farms, until you reach King Phedi. It is situated on the banks of Ankhu Khola.

  • Day 05: Kintang Phedi to Jharlang (5 to 6 hours)
    Embark on a gradual ascent journey through villages inhabited by ethnic groups like Brahmin, Tamang, and Chhetri to reach Jharlang. Jharlang is a Tamang village with a school and several houses.

  • Day 06: Jharlang to Chalise (5 to 6 hours)
    Cross through villages inhabited by Tamang communities along with Borang and Sheraton villages where you’ll see schools and health care centers. From here, you will continue the trek by passing through several Chortens and Mani walls to reach Chalise.

  • Day 07: Chalise to Hindung (5 to 6 hours)
    Trek on the trail that gradually descends downhill to reach Menchet Khola. Cross the river and make a steep climb uphill and then ascend to reach village of Hindung. This is the last village while trekking towards Ganesh Himal Base Camp.

  • Day 08: Hindung to Rajgang Kharka (5 to 6 hours)
    Follow the trail covered with dense forest covered with local vegetation and rhododendron trees. Gradually ascend to reach the grassland of Rajgang Kharka. This place is surrounded by beautiful forests.

  • Day 09: Rajgang Kharka to Kalo Seto Kunda (6 to 7 hours)
    As we climb upward, we leave dense forest regions behind. As we head towards high altitude region, you’ll find alpine vegetation. Continue towards the holy lake of Kalo Seto Kunda and Ganesh Himal Base Camp.

  • Day 10: Acclimatization at Ganesh Himal Base Camp (one day)
    Enjoy exploring GHBC and visit Kalo Seto Kunda (the black and white lake). The Black lake is covered with black stone, and the white lake is covered with white stone. From here, you can enjoy stunning views of the Ganesh Hemal peaks.

  • Day 11: GHBC to Rajgang Kharka (5 to 6 hours)
    After spending time at the base camp, you’ll retrace your steps back to Rajgang Kharka through a gradual descend.

  • Day 12: Rajgang Kharka to Chalise (6 to 7 hours)
    Leaving the beautiful grassland behind, you’ll cross through dense forests to reach Chalise.

  • Day 13: Chalise to Laba Besi (5 to 6 hours)
    Follow the trail to descend downhill and pass through dense forest, beautiful villages, and terraced farms. You’ll reach Laba Besi.

  • Day 14: Laba Besi to Manyang Bhanjyang (5 to 6 hours)
    Leave Laba Besi behind and start climbing towards uphill through Gurung village to reach Manyang Bhanjyang.

  • Day 15: Manyang Bhanjyang to Majhgaun (6 to7 hours)
    Start trekking mostly downhill, with a steep descent path towards Majhgaun. During the day enjoy the scenic view of Manaslu Himalayan Ranges along with traditional villages and dense oak and rhododendron forests.

  • Day 16: Majhgaun to Budathum (5 to 6 hours)
    Walk along the dense forest, traditional villages, terraced farmlands, and streams to reach Budathum.

  • Day 17: Budathum to Arughat Bazaar (6 to 7 hours)
    Descend from Budathum by crossing several streams and pass through traditional villages. Trek along the Budi Gandaki River, which leads to small market town Arughat Bazaar. From here, you’ll be driven to Kathmandu.

  • Day 18: Final Departure
    One of our representatives will drop you at the Tribhuvan international airport 3 hours before your scheduled flight.

Good to Know

Food

Enjoy the taste of authentic Nepalese cuisine during the trek. All the meals included (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). During your stay in the hotel, you’ll get a variety of breakfast, and during the trek, you’ll have food in the guesthouses/lodges/tea shops. You may carry some packaged food and water purifying pills.

Accommodation

Accommodation in a 3-star hotel in Kathmandu and in guesthouse/lodge during the trek. Rooms are available on a twin sharing basis. Rooms are normal with beds and basic facilities during the trek.
