Trip Overview

Nar Phu Valley Trek is one of the most extraordinary treks around the Annapurna region. This trek takes you through many Nepali villages, Mongolian tribes, and the local culture by giving you a hint of the traditional way of living. On this trek, you will come across small and beautiful teahouses, lodges in the cultivated and pasture lands of Yak. Nar Phu Valley trek serves you with an alluring experience of exploring the hidden mysteries of Gompas, Buddhist monasteries, the Tibetan culture, and more. This trek is a pleasurable venture in the rugged terrain to the remote areas as you get to enjoy the beauty of the wilderness in the panoramic range of the Himalayas.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu where the concerned representative will receive you and drop you at the hotel. Check-in and later on you can explore Thamel, which is a popular tourist hub of Kathmandu.

Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Jagat (1,300m/4,265ft) 7-8 hours

After breakfast, we will head to Jagat via Beshishahar by crossing multiple exotic sceneries of rivers, farms, lush green forests as we exit Kathmandu. Overnight stay will be at Jagat.

Day 3: Trek from Jagat to Dharapani (1,860m/6,102ft) 6-7 hours

We will start our trek after breakfast, and head towards Dharapani. On our way, we will come across fields of corn, potatoes, barley, and forests of bamboo, rhododendrons, backdrop of Annapurna mountain ranges, grassy riverbank near Tal village, waterfall, and more. Overnight stay at Dharapani will be arranged.

Day 4: Trek from Dharapani to Koto (2,600m/8,530ft) 4-5 hours

We move towards Bagarchhap after crossing pine trees and fir forests. You can also visit a monastery in this village. Then we will move towards Danaque, further getting the views of Himal, Lamjung, Annapurna IV, and Annapurna II. By continuing through pine forests, we reach Latamarang, we make our way to Koto Village which will be our stop for the night.

Day 5: Trek from Koto to Meta (3,560m/11,680ft) 6-7 hours

On this day, we will register the restricted area permit and then trek through the pine forests via the riverbank of Soti Khola to reach Dharamshala. We trek towards Meta village to finally reach the Tibetan Plateau for amazing views of Lamjung Himal and Annapurna II. Overnight stay will be at Meta.

Day 6: Trek from Meta to PhuGaon (4,080m/13,386ft) 6-7 hours

After 4 hours of trek, we will reach Kyang, will witness the ruined forts of Khampa settlement. Further, we will step towards Phu Village by walking past the rocky trail of Phu Khola. Overnight stay will be at Phu Village.

Day 7: Acclimatization and Exploration at PhuGaon (4,250m/13,944ft)

This will be the acclimatization day where you will get used to the high-altitude atmosphere. Explore the culture, religious practices, natural diversity and ethnic groups like Gurung, Lama, and Ghale. Enjoy the views of Himlung Himal with other snow peaks. Overnight stay will be at Phu Gaon.

Day 8: Trek from PhuGaon to Nar (4,110m/13,484ft) 5-6 hours

We will be heading towards Mahendra Pul which takes four hours, passing through the suspension bridge over the Lapche River Gorge. After passing via the Buddhist stupas, monasteries, the glorious vista of Pisang Peak, we will spend the night at Nar village.

Day 9: Acclimatization and Exploration at PhuGaon (4,110m/13,484ft)

On this day, you will take rest and spend the day hiking and exploring the nearby places of the Nar village. Overnight stay at Nar will be arranged for the day.

Day 10: Trek to Nawal (3,660m/12,008ft) from Nar, via Kang La Pass (5,322m/17,460ft) 6-7 hours

Starting our day early, we head towards Kangla Pass from where you can see the Annapurna Massif. Overnight stay will be at Nawal.

Day 11: Trek from Nawal to Manang (3,540m/11,614ft) 3-4 hours

We trek to Manang from Ngwal and cross through the village of Paugh which serves stunning views of Annapurna Range. Then we gently trek uphill to Mungli and eventually reach Manang to stay for the night.

Day 12: Trek to Yak Kharka (4,050m/13,287ft) from Manang 3-4 hours

The trail will take you through Tenki village, Marshyangdi Valley, JarsangKhola, Ghunsa village, and finally the Yak Karka village. You’ll stay overnight at Yak Kharka.

Day 13: Trek to ThorungPhedi (4,450m/14,600ft) from Yak Kharka

On this day, the aim is to reach Thorung Phedi which is a small settlement. Although there is an option of hiking to the High Camp, it is advised to sleep in the lower altitude, than the higher altitude at High Camp. Overnight stay at Thorung Phedi.

Day 14: Trek to Muktinath (3,800m/12,467ft) from ThorungPhedi Base Camp via Thorung La Pass (5,416m/17,764ft) 7-8 hours

Cross the Thorung La Pass and reach Muktinath village by the sunset. Overnight stay at Muktinath for the day.

Day 15: Trek to Jomsom (2,715m/8,910ft) from Muktinath 3-4 hours

Descend from Kali Gandaki Gorge, pass the Khingar and Jharkot villages which promotes Tibetan architecture, and then reach Jomsom where you will be staying for the night.

Day 16: Fly to Pokhara from Jomsom (30 minutes)

We will head back and after breakfast, we will check-in to the airport to take a flight to Pokhara. After reaching, you will be taken to the respective hotel. For the rest of the day, you can explore Nepal and many touristy locations like Phewa Lake, Pokhara valley and much more. For the night, you’ll be accommodated in Pokhara.

Day 17: Drive to Kathmandu from Pokhara 6-7 hours

After breakfast, we will drive back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, we will be transferred to the hotel. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.

Day 18: Departure Day

Our trekking journey comes to an end today. You will be escorted to the airport where we will bid our goodbyes to you.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu
