Delve into the fascinating sight and cultural-interest of the great Himalayas. You may witness river banks, terraced hills, dense exotic forest, plentiful birdlife, sweeping vistas, picture-postcard villages, high passes, and monasteries, on your way to Jiri. This route was discovered by the first Everest climbers. You may see this trek as a bit demanding or tiring. The best time to visit this 20 days long trek is spring/autumn.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu

After completing custom formality at the international airport, our staff will pick you and drop off at the hotel. You’ll get a complete day off for rest and in the night welcome dinner. Stay overnight in Kathmandu in a hotel.

Day 02: Trek to Shivalaya

Drive from Kathmandu and cross Sun Koshi River following by ascended grumpy road. It will take 3 hours. It’s a scenic drive along with typical villages, terraced fields, snowcapped mountains and many more. After this picturesque journey, you’ll reach Shivalaya.

Day 03: Trek to Bhandar

Start your day by crossing the stream and then a steep climb till the next pass. After crossing Deurali through the steep path, you’ll start seeing Tibetan culture. You’ll also see a scenic view of Likhu Khola Valley and a large Sherpa settlement. After that, descend for 2 hours to reach Bhandar for staying overnight in a hotel.

Day 04: Trek to Sete

Start your day by crossing the stream and enter into a dense forest. After crossing the forest you’ll see a little Sherpa town Kenja from here the path starts ascending steeply till Lamjura Pass. After a short climb till Chimbu, you’ll reach Sete. Here you’ll stay overnight in a hotel.

Day 05: Trek to Junbesi

It is delightful and a long day. You’ll start this trek by crossing through maple, rhododendron, and magnolia forests. You may feel the cold wind on a cloudy day even if you’re crossing this path in the afternoon. This trail climbs again with huge painted Mani walls on the head of the valley. After crossing the bridge, you’ll reach Junbasi, an amazing Sherpa village.

Day 06: Trek to Trakshindu

Observe some amazing monasteries, attractive bazaars, and a large green valley in Junbesi. Here you'll see Tashi Thongmon Gompa, which is a 16th-century monastery, and Junbesi high school is a Hillary school with 300 pupils. After crossing all this, you’ll reach Trakshindu and stay there overnight.

Day 07: Trek to Putitan

Descend towards Dudh Koshi and cross the large suspension bridges and ascend through a terraced field. In Khari Khola, you can see your next destination, which is a cluster of buildings on Bupasa. Make a steep climb to Bupsa and stay here overnight in a hotel.

Day 08: Trek to Phakding

Begin your day by climbing through a steady and gentle trail through the forest, which is inhabited by monkeys. Climb through the ridge to pass Mani walls and keep climbing up to a cliff in the rock to see Sherpa settlements surrounded by forests. You’ll cross thorough Paiya Khola and after that Surkhe trail which leads to Chauri Kharka. After crossing this you’ll reach a gentle trail which leads to Phakding. Stay overnight by the Ghats of the Thado Koshi River.

Day 09: Trek to Namche Bazaar

Begin your morning by crossing bridges over the Dudhkoshi River and pass through several interesting villages like Bankar, Toc-Toc, and Monjo arriving to reach the entrance of Sagarmatha national park. From here you’ll cross some river beds to reach Namche Bazaar. Spend some time exploring good restaurants, cybercafé, post office, banks, pubs, and many local shops at Namche bazaar.

Day 10: Acclimatization at Namche Bazaar

You’ll get a day for acclimatizing in Namche bazaar. It is the main center of the Himalayan region. You can explore its beautiful markets. Our guide will take you to the tourist visitor center near the headquarters of the Sagarmatha Park where you can observe things related to Everest ascenders, Sherpa culture, and wildlife of Everest.

Day 11: Trek to Tengboche

Today you’ll trek up to an altitude of 3,860m by crossing through rushing glacier water, and savoring magnificent views of the Dudhkoshi River. Tengboche is famous for its monasteries and 20-foot-long Buddha’s sculpture. You can attend prayers here.

Day 12: Trek to Dingboche

Start trekking towards Somare and Orsho village, from here the path divides into two - one goes towards Pheriche, and the other goes to Dingboche. Dingboche has a few good lodges. Stay here overnight.

Day 13: Acclimatize in Dingbcohe and Hike to Chhukung and Back

Get another day for acclimatization before going higher. You can hike up the valley to Chukkung and towards island peak Imja Tes. You’ll get a lecture about high altitude sickness in the afternoon. This trail is surrounded by fabulous peaks. Acclimatized trekkers can head up towards Chukkung Ri to see Mt. Makalu through a grassy slope.

Day 14: Trek to Lobuche

After having a delicious breakfast, we will start walking towards Dugla. We start heading towards Khumbu glacier and then pass through boulder-strewn slopes to reach Chupki Lhara. Here you’ll find an array of stones and prayer flags in the memory of American mountaineer and 10-time Everest submitter Babu Chiri Sherpa - who perished on a mission climb to Everest. After crossing the memorial this trail further leads to Lobuche. Here you’ll stay overnight.

Day 15: Trek to Gorekshep

You’ll start trekking towards Everest Base Camp through the vast Gorak Shep Lake. We will further see memorials of Indian army mountaineers. This path is misleading so follow your lead Sherpa diligently. We pass through rocky dunes, moraines, and streams to reach EBC. Here we will see camps of mountaineers. We will get back to Gorak Shep for a good night’s rest.

Day 16: Hike to Kalapatthar

Leave for Kalapatthar early in the morning preferably during pre-dawn darkness. After reaching Kalapatthar, we will see a 360-degree view of the Himalayan panorama including the mighty Everest. After spending some time there, we will come back to Lobuche for an overnight stay.

Day 17: Trek Back to Namche bazaar

From Pangboche we will retrace our steps back to Imja Khola and Tangboche. We will have lunch at Tangboche and start trekking towards Chorten. After crossing Chorten, you’ll reach Namche bazaar. Here you’ll stay overnight.

Day 18: Trek to Lukla

This will be your last day of trekking as you return to Lukla from where the trek began. Enjoy sharing your experience with others. This afternoon is free, so you can relax and explore nearby places. In the evening you will have a few celebrity drinks and dance with trek mates.

Day 19: Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu

You’ll catch an early morning flight to Kathmandu. Get some rest and do some souvenir shopping. Guides will help you with shopping and sightseeing. You’ll get farewell dinner. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 20: Transfer to the Airport

Our staff will drop you at the airport 3 hours in advance to your flight departure.

Good to Know

Food

Itinerary
