It is a fact, that if you want to trek to Stok kangri, you must be equipped with a certain level of technical knowledge. Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Leh 

On this day, you would arrive in the capital city – Leh. Then, relax for some time, and then stay overnight at a hotel in Leh. 

Day 2: Trek briefing in Leh 

You would meet all your trek mates here, and spend some time with your group for orientation and trek briefing. You would spend the night in a hotel at Leh. 

Day 3: Leh- Mankarmo 

On this day, you would visit the beautiful Stok Village, which is just 30 minutes drive from Leh. Here, you can check out the amazing nomadic lifestyle of the Ladakhi. From this point, you would begin your trek to Mankarmo which is 13,940 feet. You would spend your night here only. 

Day 4: Mankarmo – Stok Kangri Base camp 

Wake up early and start your trek to Stok Kangri Base camp which is 16,400ft. Now, you would get sufficient free time to prepare for your trek in two days. Stay overnight in Kangri. You would also get a briefing of the techniques to prepare for your summit. 

  • Techniques of Self-Arrest
  • Walking with the support of crampons, both front and flat point (35 degrees to 55 degrees)
  • Practicing basic knot technique
  • Descending and Ascending techniques
  • Fundamentals of self-defense techniques
  • Properly handling small incidents

Day 5: Stok Kangri Base Camp

For adaption, you can also take a walk and witness the alluring glaciers, before returning to the base camp. Now, spend that day for the preparation of your summit and the following day. You would spend the night at Stok Kangri Base Camp. 

Day 6: Stok kangri Summit

Wake up early to witness the astonishing view of sunrise. Check out the panoramic views of hamlets, vistas and splendid views of Ladakh and Karakoram ranges from Zanskar and Indus Valley. Finally, witness the glimpse of Saser Kangri which is at a height of 25,000 feet. Spend the night at Stok Base Camp. 

Day 7: Stok Kangri Base Camp - Leh

Trek back to Stok Village and then returning to Leh by car. This is the day of Certification Ceremony and then gets back to Leh by car.

Day 8: Leh – Onwards journey 

Breakfast with your new friends, before you depart for your onward journey.

This moderate level trek takes you to the height of 20,187 feet. The ideal time to visit the amazing destination is from June to September. The nearest airport is Kushok Bakula Rimpoche which is 5km away from the capital city, Leh. By train, the route is via Srinagar which would take not less than 2 days.
