Trip Overview

This six day trek takes you into an area adorned with a multitude of pristine, crystal clear lakes. As you walk amidst the shimmering lakes you’ll be treated to stunning views of the entire Himalayan mountain range and some of the world’s highest peaks including Mt. Everest, Jomolhari, Masang Gang, Jichu Drake, Gangche Ta and many more.

During the trek an entire day will be dedicated to visiting some of the more picturesque lakes and resting. The trail also takes you through several Bhutanese villages so you can get a good idea of traditional Bhutanese village life as you make your way back from the lakes.

While this is a somewhat strenuous trek, it is well worth the effort because of the tranquility and beauty of natural landscape that you will enjoy during the journey. The best time to embark on this trek is between April-June or September –October.

Itinerary

Day 01 - BKK/CCU/DEL/KTM -   PBH

Arrive to Bhutan from Bangkok/Kolkata/Delhi/Kathmandu/Dhaka by Druk air or Bhutan Airlines flights.  On arrival the representatives of Lhomen Tours & trekking will receive and transfer to hotel.Then visit vistit Paro Rimpung Dzong (fortress) of 17th century, Ta Dzong (Watch Tower) which is now a national museum and Nyami Zampa and kyichu temple. If time permit walk around the Paro town. Overnight hotel in Paro.

Day 02 - Paro: Taksang (Tigers Nest) hike - Thimphu

Morning early, start the hike to famous Taktsang Gompa (tiger nest monastery) of 8thcentury built on the cliff of a rock 3000ft above the Paro valley. The walk is 3 hours uphill to the monastery and 1 hour to explore the monastery.2 hours to the transport from the monastery, then transfer you to hotels.If time prevails you could walk around the Paro town, Overnight in hotels. After the visit drive to Thimphu the capital city of Bhutan for 1 hour. Overnight in hotels.

Day 03 - Thimphu - Genekha - Ghue

Late morning drive to Genekha village visit Chenchu Gompa and meet with trekking  tem and ponnies to start the trek. Lunch will be served at the trek point. After lunch start the trek with winding path of gradual climb for 3-4 hours to the campsite Ghue Alt. 9000 ft, overnight in tented camp.

Day 04 - Ghue - Labatama

Start the trek with winding path of gradual ascend till you reach the campsite Labatama Alt. 13200 ft. with views of valley and the surrounding mountains. Trek distance is 18 km with 6-7 hours hike and overnight in tented camp.

Day 05 - Labatama - Halt

 Explore around the base of Mt. Aum Jumo Alt. 16600 ft. visiting the surrounding lakes or one can try to climb to the top of Aum Jumo peak if one had the mountaineering idea. On the clear day one could enjoy the Himalayan Mountains within the country and as well far and wide from India to Tibet. Overnight in tented camp.

Day 06 - Labatama - Kharikhawa

Start the trek with gradual climb for few minutes and it’s on the levels with ups and down, through the dwarf rhododendron vegetation and Yak pasture to Kharikhawa campsite Alt. 12500 ft. The trek distance is 18 km with 6-7 hours hike and overnight in tented camp..

DAY 07- Kharikhawa - Chamgang - Thimphu

Begin the trek with gradual descend through the conifer and rhododendron vegetation to Chamgang village where the transportation will transfer you to Thimphu. Trek distance is 16 km with 5-6 hours hike and another one and half hour by vehicle to Thimphu. Overnight hotel.

Day 8 – Thimphu – Punakha – Thimphu

Make the day excursion to Punakha, the ancient capital city of Bhutan to visit the Punakha Dzong which is situated at the confluence of Pho-chu and Mo-Chu (Male and female rivers), originally built in 1637 by Zhubdrung Rimpoche who unified Bhutan in the early 17th century and the completely renovated after the destruction by fire in 1984 and 1994 by flood. The Punakha valley is approximately at Alt. 5000 ft. in warm climate and rich in agriculture products with its strategic fortress commandingly looking over the valley. The drive is of 3 hours one way crossing the Dochula pass Alt. 10000 ft.  On clear days one could enjoy the views of the Himilayan mountains into the north.  In Punakha you will also visit the Chimi Lhakhang  know as the  Temple of fertility.  After the visit you will drive back to Thimphu and overnight at your hotel.

Day 9-  Thimphu – Paro Airport

Drive to Paro International Airport for the onward journey back home. You will require to report 2 hours before the departure time of the flight. Your guide and driver will see you to the airport and bid farewell.

Best time to do this trek is : May, June, July , September, October and November. You will have beautiful view Mount Kanchanganga, and many beautiful lakes
